Not enough jiggle physics?

Clearly not enough fanservice, where are all the upskirt shots?

Zelda is too westernized because it was inspired by Lord of the Rings. The series should get a new Dark Souls inspired touch to be the number one Action Adventure again.

It was a Japanese million-plus seller in NES, SNES, and N64 days.

Exactly, so what changed? Somebody decided that Zelda was first and foremost about puzzles and the proposed solution to get Zelda sales back on track was more story. So the series ends up as something that people don't care about and isn't easy to fix.

What was Zelda about in the first place? Running around and slaying monsters. And lo and behold, Japanese tastes haven't changed. Running around, slaying monsters and getting more gear and equipment still works while people still don't care about puzzles.

I like the puzzle elements, but yes the pure LOZ formula needs to reduce the overall puzzle and increase the freedom of movement.

Because Japanese have no sense of quality. LOL j/k. But seriously it's probably because like others have stated its made to be westernized. I'm not sure if it was inspired by lord of the rings but it definitely isn't a Japanese styled game.

I make bad threads.

SSB really went downhill after Melee....

Manlet Crew

To be fair, Phantom Hourglass actually did fairly well...
It just barely missed out on a million...
Having said that, Japan sure doesn't seem to love Zelda like the West does...
But I think it's easy for the "core" Nintendo fan to overestimate its popularity...

Have a nice day...

Because Link is too western for Japanese gamers. They can't handle real time combat and can't process how much damage they're doing to an enemy without a bunch of numbers flying around on screen.

Oh, and Link doesn't talk, so there's no room for an emo-driven storyline that spans hours upon hours of cutscenes featuring androgynous characters of all kinds of racial stereotypes in dramatic poses.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

west market is bigger but maybe the japanese audience just doesn't apreciate how zelda turned out as much as westerns.

They need to make Zelda look like this

Not enough hentai.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Actually I think it sell too little WW, it deserves a lot more sales in my opinion. :(

But as someone said, comparing it to attach rate, the games do about the same compared to the west. But, it is clear that the game is not one of the most popular in Japan, that's for sure. A popular game there can outsell a game in the west, with extreme attach rates, and Zelda does not have this.

But if I would be to put my point of view on things, why the Zelda franchise is not more popular in Japan(Asia), could be that it is becoming more and more westernized. To me it feels more and more like a mix between Asian and European culture, and in Twilight Princess you even had that "cowboy" thing in the game, so it felt more targeted to Americans than other titles.

But most of the titles are very European inspired, with a medieval theme over it. Castles, princess, sword and shield. You are not exactly a Samurai, if you get my point. :P

But then again, what about Mario. He's Italian(?) and here once again you have castle, princess and stuff. Not exactly Japanese-style.

On the other hand, I love this. I think this mix is awesome. But I think Japanese people might feel it is just not as Asian. Maybe. Just my thought.

Or they just don't like Action-Adventure games as much as J-RPG?
