Now this goes for all games in general. DLC is a great way to enjoy the games we love even more. In fact when it was first a thing, it felt like a dream come true. Instead of waiting 2-5 years for the next installment, expand the games we are already playing after a year or 2 from its retail release.
But there is a huge problem and its been going on for awhile now. Its DAY 1 DLC! WTF? I mean dont get me wrong i'll spend a couple extra dollars especially to get extra feats like i've done in the past but Day 1 DLC is a disgrace...
Why is it a Disgrace? Cuz technically we have to pay $70-$80 for a game (the entire game per say) that literally could have been in it from the very start. Lots of FPS seem to do this the most. Maps/etc can be placed in a complete game but imo i think they hold out (not everybody) just so they can charge you an extra $10 down the line wheter its day 1 or month 2 dlc.
Another big example of a big F*** You and give me more money (despite it not being Day 1 DLC) would be PSASBR. You get 20 characters with no unlockables but instead 2 characters in 2 months after release. If SSB did a u-turn with SSB fr WiiU/3DS and had no unlockables and every character is DLC instead, there would be outrage!!!
Not all DLC is bad, giving us DLC for games to proceed in playing games is fine. As long as it really is EXTRA, instead of not giving us a complete game!
Some Day 1 DLC isnt bad, Fire Emblem Awakening did a approach with FREE DLC in the game that kinda had nothing to do with the plot, and added more for a mere $2 (comes in packages) instead of the rip off $10-$20.
Mario Golf (3DS) can be argued about since its day 1 dlc with alot of content, but im not really big on it so there's that. NSLU was great cuz it was an entire new game and for $20 (eshop) or $30 for retail.
Now games like MK8 will be fine with DLC in the future, but if its day 1 dlc then that literally could of been added to the game but instead want to charge us more than a $60 game!
DLC has its pros but has its flaws as well!
Opinions on the matter?
