If that is the way you look at it, then yes.  Maybe an explanation to why i find it not to be funny or clever would help you?  Then again it looks like a few people already told you why.  NOw try and not get upset with everybody when they dont find your thread good that is clearly a thread to try and create irony with game releases and movies with a joke thread.  Maybe if you made a better point than you did i wouldnt have said anything about it but instead i maybe would have agreed with you.

The key differences with this analogy is that the blu-ray port of old movies aren't sold at full price. They're sold for $10. Also blu-ray players can play and upscale DVDs while PS4 can't play ps3 discs at all.

Ignore the haters prof. I thought your thread was clever. You rock old sport.

I'll just ask you to stop being off-topic and deriding comments. You can send me a pm if you want to insult me some more.

There was one person (not a few) who "told me why", but he has yet to explain after I asked what he meant by it. Stating buzz-words is not an argument.

well, true...for old movies they come out and they're cheap. But it's pretty rare that an old game sells for more than 30. The ps3 remake bundle of gow1+2 was 20$, ico and sotc was 20$ as well. I'm sure there are more but I can't recall them.

But for movies that were just coming out on DVD at the advent of BluRay, they were sold at extremely high prices even when they had just been released six months prior on dvd. But yeah, it would have been nice if ps4 could play ps3 games.....

Now that I think about it...how many consoles actually had backwards compatibility? There can't have been that many. 3 or 4?

I guess trying to make it seem like this old content you are talking about as new content is really annoying people. Just like how annoying eminem is in his old albums.

Well HD collections are different from the one year port. HD collections are actually a great value since they have multiple games on one disc and sold at a discounted price like you said. One year ports, however, is just one and sold at full price like it was a brand new release. I don't remember how much old movie blu-rays were sold when the format first started,  but it wouldn't surprise me since bluray were ridiculously expensive when they first started.

I can't quote you since I'm on mobile. Quoting sucks on a phone.

^^ your phone just sucks.

Yeah its unbeleiveably difficult to quote on my galaxy.

all im saying is that when bluray came out, one year old movies were still going for full price, which for br was in the 50 dollar area.

We will see the same thing happen when 4k players are released.

if a person buys a new format, they would expect to have the movie ported to it fairly shortly, even more so if it was a gigantic franchise. However i do see your point about bc.but for people who didnt own harry potter on dvd..... ;)

I dont buy movies, but if I did I would pick blu-ray over DVD whereever there was an option

Congratulations! You have successfully established that the world was also full of idiots 5 years ago, and that just like now, corporations were more than willing to take their money. An important reminder for people who were too stoned back then to remember, and small children who were not mentally alert back then.
