Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Just picked up Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze!!!

So I was in a store looking for a game to buy with my family, the woman said i could. So I was torn between Wind Waker HD, Lego City Undercover, and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Since i couldn' decide I let my soon to be 3 year old son(June 23rd) choose.  So I showed him the 3 box covers and he immediately went for Donkey Kong, so DK it is. It better be good or you will be dissowned son, is what some of the many thoughts that went through my head. Took it home and played it that night and WOW what amazing game.Playing this game has been fun and trying to get all the puzzles pieces has been a challenge, which i enjoy. Each level is amazing to look at, I sometimes get lost looking at the gorgeous backgrounds and end up plumbeting(spell check) to my death. The soundtrack has been amazing too.

With all that being said this is just another  VISUALLY, FUN game on the WII U that people are missing out on. Nintendo and the exclusives made for the WiiU have been good to great games, havent play a bad a game yet. WONDERFUL 101, SUPER MARIO 3D WORLD, NEW SUPER MARIO BROS U, and now DONKEY KONG COUNTRY: TROPICAL FREEZE are all 9's in my book. NintendoLand and ZombieU are  low 8's, could of been an easy nine, if UBISoft didnt do cheap graphics in the game(which i think was purposely done), Wii PARTY U is a high  8 and blast to play when you have peope over.

This is easily becoming a no brainer to pick up a WiiU, if you haven't yet, when Mario Kart 8 (GOTY)comes out. Plenty fun games now to keep you busy.

Platformer of the generation ;)

The game is fantastic and is an audio/visual masterpiece. The controls also seem very improved over Returns, in that it's much, much easier to high bounce off of enemies this time (for me anyway), and of course, the roll maneuver is a simple button press now.

Honestly, the inclusion of Cranky as a playable character is the only thing I take issue with. His whole contribution to the gameplay seems very forced and his character is much better suited for talkin' smack at the shop (which I loved) rather than hands-on.

I'll admit, DKCTF made me take a second look at the series, but I'm still not gonna be jumping in anytime soon!

my 2 favorite games in a few years are rayman legends and dkctf.(gtav, tlou, zelda are amazing, but they dont are funnier like these)
seems that im coming back to the best gaming era for me, in the snes with loads of amazing plataformers!

For shame.

OT: My copy is coming in tomorrow. I'm quite excited, to say the least. Considering I only played a little of DKCR, this should be pretty fresh for me. I'm hoping for the best.

I never played the earlier DKCs. So i cant comment on Cranky or compare others. I d

o like his ability to jump on spikes, though.
