I've read some time ago EA was very scared about Dragon Age being pushed to 3rd place among Western RPGs by The Witcher 3, so they are going to fight really hard to keep this IP alive. This is a good step.

Isn't Dragon Age already in 6th place (discluding MMORPG's)

1. The Elder Scrolls (Skyrim: 20+ million)
2. Diablo (Diablo 3: 15+ million)
3. Fallout (Fallout 3: 9+ million)
4. Mass Effect (Mass Effect 3: 5+ million)
5. Fable (Fable III: 5+ million)
6. Dragon Age (Dragon Age: Origins- 4.5+ million)
7. Witcher (Witcher 2: 2+ million)

I'd say there's a very real possibility of Witcher 3 pushing Dragon Age into 7th and maybe even displacing Fable and Mass Effect, so Bioware/EA should definitely put up a fight.

I meant out of fantasy RPGs. Diablo is a hack'n'slash and a lootfest, not a real RPG. Fable is an exclusive and it's dying either way :P

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

I liked both of the previous games equally, they just had different strengths and weaknesses. Hopefully DA:I combines most of the strengths of the last 2 and none of the weaknesses. That way it could end up being one of the wrpg greats. Looking forward to this immensely, hopefully the ability to generate backstory for ps4 and xb one versions is detailed enough to be able to represent my actual past play throughs.

Personally I don't know how someone can not play DA2 to be ready for this. The DA2 story is so integral to DAI more so than the main story of DAO. The importance of DAO is really only some of the characters a la morrigan and leliana.

I agree with this entire post.

Speaking of the story in Inquisition, I forgot that Dragon Age: Masked Empire recently came out.  I'm definitely planning on reading it before the game releases.

meh, looks really typical and boring

I really hope this is what it turns out to be like, it is what they said they are aiming for.

Damn that box art looks good!

No.

Boxart using negative space as a focal point is almost unheard of. Its actually the opposit of generic.

also nice touch at making the main character somewhat gender neutral

I know right? Haters gonna hate.

DA2 box art uses negative space as well, at least the EU box art does, but not as a focal point.

Yeah I have no problem with someone not liking it, and if that forum member doesn't there's nothing wrong with that. I just had to comment on the "typical" part of the post. This cover art is FAR from typical, which is one of the reasons I love it so much. The artwork itself is beautiful, but once you realize the Dragon is there the whole time just in the negative space and that it covers the entire picture it really takes it from nice WRPG artwork to something very unique.

I'll have to wait for reviews on this one, was not a fan of the second game.
