My biggest complaint was the roster though. A long history of Sony characters and you can only manage a roster of 12 (?) characters? And a few of them weren't even Sony characters..? Lame.

The roster may have been many things, but 12 characters it was not.  20 base characters with 4 DLC characters.

Oh sure, cut out the parts of my post where I said I liked the game to make me look like a bad guy!

But yeah, I was totally wrong. 12 just popped into my head. Thats why I put the ? next to it. The roster still felt really weak though. I remember sitting there choosing my character for the first time, and I couldn't stop thinking "I feel like Sony's made a lot more memorable characters than this.."

I only left in the part of your post I was responding to.  I'm not even disagreeing with you about the strength of the roster!  I was just pointing out that your number was wayyy off, that's all.

It's a good game. I didn't play much of it myself because I'm not much good at that sort of frenetic gameplay esp with others playing. But my boys put many hours into this and enjoyed it immensely. I'm glad it finally sold a decent amount. I think Sony should try to make a mascot game that is less like SSB and more it's own thing, bringing something a bit different to consoles. Perhaps a MOBA.

Yay, 700k trash bin sales :P

Nah, seriously: Congratulations PSABR. I hope we'll get a sequel by a competent dev with enough time and budget which doesn't suck like the first one. Mascot fighters just have too much potential to be wasted like PSABR was. Roster at the same time was too small and yet bloated (the game felt like an advertisement for upcoming MULTIPLATFORM games -_-), not enough Single Player content, not enough extra content.

I call bull on people saying this game goes for 5-10$. All of the largest retailers are 20$+

Cheapest I can find from a major retailer (20$)

I'm sure its been for $10 on PSN, and I've seenit a couple of times on Amazon for $10 as well.

The game has multiple cuts in prices and layoffs.
It was a flop.

That's cool. I just had to cover my bases. Sony fans can be scarey sometimes..

I think how they kinda mushed 2 characters together together sometimes hurt the roster a lot too. Ratchet and Clank should have been 2 characters. They could have had Dr. Nepharious (spelling) in there too along with some other bad guys. Etc. An easy thing to fix though. The core mechanics were great. The only problem is that might not happen. 1 million sales is decent, but I spend a lot of time shopping around at game stores and a big chuck of those sales were at $9.99 in the discount bin.

The game would flop, they said. The game was too average, they said. The game's launch was too poor, they said. The game would never sell a million units, they said. The game would be a MAJOR flop, they said. I tried to tell them to wait and that the game could still put up respectable numbers. But they didn't listen.

So I waited...

But now the time has come to speak up and face the numbers:

You must know that gamers like to think and live for the short term. They see week 1 numbers and they will react accordingly. You expect people to remain silent and wait a year before commenting? What a silly thought.

Its examples like this when one victory comes at the cost of 2+ years after a game releases. The "victory" is hollow. The buzz has passed, the gamers have moved on, and only those who were obsessed by taking the loss as personal would care today.

Nope, its the other way around.

The victories which are celebrated prematurely because people know there wont be much to celebrate when the truth comes out.

Its like people already claiming DX12 is so awesome and kicks PS4's ass, but when it actually comes out and the dust has settled, PS4 will still be more powerful, yet some will have claimed the hollow 'victory' at a time of hype and buzz.... and despite the amount of times expectations are never met, they still dont take a moment to think before jumping on the next hype train and claiming victory before it crashes.

Hardware comparisons last a generation.....a video game buzz lasts what, a few months to a year depending on its relevancy?

Claiming ownage on my thoughts in November 2012.....I could care less today.
