Did you expect the Wii U to flop beforehand?

Yes 169 35.21%

No, I thought it would sell like crazy 65 13.54%

No, I thought it would sell average-ish 243 50.63%

So we all know by now that the Wii U sale wise has been somewhat of a flop so far and it might be one forever, but I don't really remember if I thought it would flop from the start. I did have mixed feelings about the controller and to this day I still think that those preview games for the first Wii U announcement should've been released at launch. (They showed the controller's potential just like Wii Sports did..) I don't think the controller was too much of a risk, but they should've hyped it up more just like they did with the Wii Remote. You only get one chance with these kind of things and they didn't take it properly.

Yes, I used to say it would not be a hit. I just never thought the sales would be this abysmal. I could hardly be more pleased. The sooner Ninty goes third party only the better for all gamers.

I never expected  the Wii U to sell 80-100 million, but I also never expected it to be the flop that is today!

I expected something between the sales of the SNES and the NES.

So no. :P

Had I been told that the lineup for the Wii U would be so bad (imo it's pretty good, but if you don't like the classic Nintendo games it isn't), the commercials so horrible and the lack of commercials even worse, I wouldn't have gone so far with my predictions, but I would at least have held it at 30 millions.

Yep.

Weirdly, I felt disappointed to learn it was on the way. I think this was because we only got our Wii in 2010 and it was still getting heavy usage on a daily basis. We were in no hurry to buy another console, and at first look, I didn't really understand how the controller would work. I had no reason to believe it would do as badly as it has, though.

(Edit to add) I felt the same way about the 3DS when it was released. The DS we had was being played a lot, and we had no reason to get a 3DS (the 3D feature didn't appeal at the time)

Nope... It makes sense why but not before e3 2012

Well, I did not like the Wii... At all. It was my most disliked Nintendo system. But I did buy Wii U day one just like I do all Nintendo consoles and after playing Wii U I was definitely convinced it was an awesome console.

No, I did not expect it to flop. I blame Nintendo mostly but not for their hardware decisions. I still think Wii U is a great system but I did not expect Nintendo to fail so hard at marketing this console. Even if it's selling abysmally Nintendo needed to ramp up commercials and ads months ago. How is it that about 18 months into this consoles life I still meet people that have no idea that Wii U even exists?

I still hope to see better Wii U numbers in the coming months but I don't expect it to sell above 35 mil when it's all said and done. I'm sure most people will laugh at that number considering Wii U's present state of sales but I think it will still sell more than GameCube in the end.

I predicted 40m for both the Wii-U and the PSV back at the end of 2012. There's a small chance they still get there if this generation follows the pattern of the last one, but yeah.

no, hell no. But as time went on prior to release something felt off. It was weird that the system could only support ONE gamepad at a time, the actual gamepad itself is not as fancy as was initially thought. I remember people saying it could function independently that turned out to be crap. It was supposed to be stronger than it is now, that turned out to be crap. Even then I expected to do at least N64 level, its not even GC now
