So, lately, i see a argument about nintendo been "out of touch", generally refering at their insistence on not giving things like online multiplayer on their games, producing more wersten centralized content (read: more shoter and less plataforms), don't priorizing things like raw power on hardware and not making much effort on other industry patterns, like achievments, crossplay chat and even games tied to console and region lock. So, most of us argue: they have no idea of what we want.

But, some others things make me beleve that they are actually aware of what us, core games, are demanding, but they just don't think that this should be the priority in any way. Most of their propaganda are hardly meant for us, mostly aiming for families. Recentily, when meele was confirmed for evo, the organizers stated that they talked like someone that is aware about the community of that game. In a article about GC, emily rogers revealed that in the late years the marketing team where just riding that horse knowing that GC would mostlya  second console, and that nitnendo fans would buy it anyway. They aways talk that they are not competing with PS4 and X1, and is seems more that they dont actually believe that they can appeal to hardcore games and they are thinking: why bother anyway?

So, what do you think? They are just ignorant, or they are just aiming someone that is not us?

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Either they don't know, don't show, or don't care about what's going on in tha hood.

They just want to avoid competing against others and do things their way. Personally, they should begin to adapt to this wild "core" gamer environment soon to become successful.

I think its more the fact that they are new to a lot of things... We have been asking for online and etc but considering the wii... I am surprised they are even able to achieve something as unique as miiverse! And same goes for everything else, they are just late at most of these as a direct result of wii's success... Sony/MS had all these years to get psn and xbl perfect but Nintendo doesn't have nearly as much! I remember that the first versions of both psn and xbl ran like ass and were pretty much ass until many updates later

But does that mean they should be excused for it? Of course not! Almost every complaint against how they are doing things is for online and accounts system and etc are perfectly valid. I don't care as much about the power after seeing MK8 and Smash but its still a valid argument. Achievements are the only things I really don't care about cause they are 100% useless imo but I wouldn't mind a stamp system for every game instead though.

And they do have "hardcore" games coming out... Hyrule Warriors, X, MK8, SSB, Beyonatta 2 and etc + whatever they are gonna announce for e3... The big issue is always third party

I'm not sure. Has anybody thought that maybe it's the other way around. People or "core gamers" started not caring about Nintendo.

I can't speak for everybody and I don't really like threads that do but I think the Wii U is shaping up to be an awesome system. So far, the lineup doesn't have a huge selection but it does have quality games. This will only improve in the future. I plan to buy no more than maybe 25 games per system. Why would I care if there are 50 to choose from or 500. I won't even consider most of them anyway...

I personally don't need achievements, the online is fine for me, I don't like many shooters, and the Wii U is a great Nintendo box so I think they're doing fine. The sales are low but that doesn't change my opinion on the system.

It seems more of a they know but they think they know better then you, so they will tell you want type of game you should be playing. Not make what you want.

they dont care.
if you want it, you may buy a sony or microsoft console.

i like plataformers, local multiplayer, cartoonish artstyle, i dont care about online and achievments.
Nintendo is for me and people who think like me.

They dont care and they shouldn't, where did it ever get them. The N64 and GCN both flopped hard, the Wii sold amazing. The hardcore gamer audience dont care about Nintendo, the Dudebro's dont care about Nintnedo. Nintendo fans buy Nintendo consoles and families buy Nintendo consoles and so that is who they will always attempt to appeal to.

They don't care.

As others have stated, N64 and GC flopped.

As for "standard" industry trends, Nintendo tends to let them cook for a few years before moving in. Case in point: Achievements. They were the hottest shit for a few years but everyone doesn't really care much about them anymore.

Also, Paid DLC. Remember the days when Oblivion shovelled out Horse Armor? DLC has gotten better in recent years (though it still gets abused) but Nintendo's handling of DLC in games like Fire Emblem is good. They waited for the concept to mature.
