Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will Watchdogs be the last chance for third parties on the Wii U?

Yeah this may be the last chance for third party.

Consoles: 3DS, Wii U, and Vita soon. Super Paper Mario fan.

You forgot Project CARS.

Im pretty sure it wont sell much. Ubisoft is hurting it with delaying it to fall or even later.
The only third party that sold well was Lego City Undercover and that was also an exclusive game.
I think we wont get much third party support from now on, maybe one game once in a while but nothing too crazy.

If you're interested in Nintendo content and understand german, maybe you want to take a look at my youtube channel! :)

A million would turn heads though. Maybe the big games would start coming then, since those have a better chance to succeed.

Yea but I have a higher chance of having a hawt sig than Watch_Dogs for wiiU breaking a million

I think many decisions were already made, the only conflict now is how some companies will change their plans because the Xbox One is not selling as high and/or as fast as some were expecting.
The support will continue if the engines work fine with the console, like Anvil Next, UbiArt and CryEngine 3, but the companies that use a different one like Frostbite 3 and Unreal 4, will not make the effort to port their engines, the money is not there.

The big question is what about Japanese developers? it seems Square-Enix is not considering the platform for the future but they play a dangerous game because their sales on the 3DS are pretty good and they cannot dismiss Nintendo at all. Capcom is a mixed bag, they have some good games out there like Ducktales, Resident Evil: Revelations and Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate, but their external studios outside of Japan and their new engine does not seem to support the console. Tecmo is working closely with Nintendo, but they don't have a big output, Konami is leaving money on the table by not being the only soccer game on the market (since FIFA is not available), but they don't seems to bother as many of their games are not being released for the console.

Lots of questions, but we will see soon enough.

The last chance was when Ubishit delayed Rayman.. that is all.

I don't think it will get worse. The usual suspects (Activision, Ubi) will continue to release on WiiU. The install base is continually growing so why would they stop if the sales are more likely to increase later.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

There's no more "last chance" and it's all Nintendo's fault. This game will flop on Wii U. Why would anyone want to wait and pick up this version, when he can get the extended and vastly superior PS4 version?
The only games that should come Wii U's way should be exclusives that make smart use of the GamePad. Other games are just a waste of time and money. Even ports barely cover what they cost. Nintendo should work with 3rd partiest to convince them to form small teams that would work on innovative exclusives, kinda like what Media Molecule did with Tearaway on Vita.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Something I don't understand is how Tp devs expect their games to succeed if they make it an inferior version. Most TP games on Wii U either lack content in any form (DLC, Online mode, etc etc) or is released at full price considerably later. Imagine if Project CARS become really hyped - these guys put faith into Wii U, talk a lot about it and if I remember correctly they said they'd really use the gamepad). Now, imagine they say "PS4 is superior in technical terms, but Wii U version has more features thanks to the Gamepad" and then it's considered the superior version among consoles. If, in this hypotethical situation, it failed after having a lot of effort and extra features poured into it, well, third-parties don't sell well confirmed. If it succeeded, on the other hand, it would be proof that TP CAN sell well if Wii U version is comparable to the other versions.

LC: Undercover and Zombi U are both succesful games. If Ubisoft didn't just cut the price so quickly Zombi U would've been more profitable overall. Rayman: Legends was destined to great success, since it's an excellent platformer and it was planned to be released on the first months of Wii U, where no big game would overshadow it, but what happened then? Delay, lost exclusivity and release overshadowed by a lot of other big releases like GTA V and such. RL could've been succesful on Wii U, but poor choices ruined the opportunity.

Come to think of it, Wii U's lack of TP support is more of an unfortunate chain of events.
