Forums - Sony Discussion - If you want to get a Vita

Ok.

I just bought an LCD model for a significantly higher price, and I'm planning on selling the OLED model. I couldn't be happier. Also, it's not like the OLED models are going anywhere soon. They're still in stock everywhere in the UK and significantly cheaper than the slim.

I suggest people compare the two models in person before jumping on the bandwagon. Also bare in mind that OLED screens are a lottery, a lottery I've lost twice.

Original Vita is really the best. Bought it at release price and never regretted it.

I just hope they return to OLED sometime down the road :/ Yeah, I know... :/ I think I'd cry if mine broke! I love the colours on it and I'm sure games won't look as awesome on a LCD.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Yeah I switched from OLED to LCD for my phone, the blacks are grey, but other than that, it's not awful. The screens are still a damn site better than older LCD screens used to be. Anyone remember how horrific the LCD was on the original PSP? It was a big reason I really didn't get on with the PSP. The ghosting was attrocious.

I'm expecting similar from the LCD Vita. I just want one in a different colour to black. Can't believe Sony haven't even attempted any variation on Black for Europe so far.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Bought one for my gf for Christmas so I can always use hers if I need to. As for myself, I plan on getting whichever Vita (likely the new one) that's bundled with the PS4 (that's rumored to come out this winter), and assuming that the bundle will be cheaper than purchasing the PS Vita and PS4 separately.

but isnt the battery life on the LCD one much better?
the OLED screen is nice, but when you up the brightness, the battery is gone in under 3 hours.

The battery life is about an hour more. You get (slightly) more battery life, a standard USB power supply, and 1gb of built in memory, at the expense of a very much superior screen. I guess it just depends on what you prefer, really.

Its more like 3 to 4 hours longer actually.  I am actually thinking about selling my vita for a new one because of the battery life.  There is not enough difference in the screens to justify the difference in battery life, new version is much better imo...

3-4 hours more battery life? I get about 4-5 hours out of my OLED Vita. so it's touching on 8 hours? That really would be great actually! LCD screens age better than OLED too. That's the main downside to OLED, the quality of the image depreciates pretty rapidly after the first 12 months.

Most reviewers say, in real-world usage at same setttings, the Vita 2000 has only about an hour, sometimes two more than the 1000.

I don't mind blacks not being very deep, as long as it's a uniform dark grey without any kind of horrible colour bias. It'll only be noticeable under pitch black conditions and our eyes will end up percieving it as black anyway.

The original PSP LCD was pretty bad. Everything seemed foggy and dull.

I still can't believe they haven't bought over other colours either. My 3DS XL is white and it looks great, I'd like to keep the trend going.

Excuse me, but do you legally own all the music on your hard drive? How about the movies? Did you buy them? And the series?

So since every single person I've ever met owns illegal digital content, I'll sleep soundly at night even if I download games from 3 generations ago that aren't being produced anymore.

I do legally own all of my games, movies, and shows, yes.

Moreover, I don't find the excuse that everyone else is doing it to be very convincing.

I'm not trying to pick a fight. I'm just pointing out that what you're endorsing is illegal.

My apologies to OP for going off-topic, but this is important to me.

I will make ROMS if I please out of anything on these shelves and more that wouldn't fit in the picture, thank you very much.  I bought it, I own it.  End of discussion.

Saving SNES RPGs to SD card instead of replacing 20 year old SRAM batteries and not having to risk damaging boxes among other things.

PS wow that pic is old, missing so much like a complete PS4 library and 6 more shelves with PS3 JRPG CEs etc :D
