Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Post NPD fallout: The central question imo is if a X1 that was cheaper than PS4 would outsell PS4

I really don't see any way for XBO to get an upper hand. Right now it probably has the biggest advantage it is going to have all gen, with the more advanced voice controls, Snap, and Live TV when connected to select cable boxes. As far as games go, Sony has always had the upper hand even in the worst of times.

Going forward, we already know Sony is bringing Live TV to PS4, and they are doing it without the need of a cable or satellite provider. Sony is bringing its back catalog to PS4 via PS Now. Sony has the largest 1st party development team, and they have a better relationship with developers and publishers world wide.

Then the biggest thing of all PS4 just has better hardware, and people know it. Sony has built the best console from a price point, a simplicity point, and a power point. PS4 has everything it needs to power through games, and it has the added benefit of a second CPU and RAM bank to handle networking, video decoding, audio deconding, and more while playing. As this generation continues PS4 will do things in games that are not achievable on XBO, and it will do things in the OS that are un-achievable on XBO just because it has more hardware, and no amount of programming skills can close the gap.

In the US maybe, global no

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

The fact that it is already giving it a tough time is pretty obvious. Microsoft could easily lower the price, but they like playing with their competition.

Like how when Apple was about to go under, and Bill Gates saved them.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Questions for you Zappykins, if Microsoft didn't care about winning March then why did they bundle Titanfall for free? Why did they drop the price to $450 with a free game bundled? How is getting beaten during the month where they launched their BIGGEST exclusive of the year considered "playing with the competition"? Do you honestly believe Microsoft WANTS to lose the US market to Sony? I'm curious about your answers to these questions.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

your not gonna see a $349 xb1 go against a 399 ps4 it aint gonna happen, a $399 w/o kenict maybe but at same price xb1 wont do much damage as seen with march NPD

well after a few days the XB1+TF bundle with the same price as gameless PS4 is already being outsold by the gameless PS4 on Amazon UK
so take from that what you will

A $400 XBO will outsell PS4. Everyone I know with a X360 is waiting for a price drop and worthwhile games. There is no need for a hard price drop, they are selling very well at the current price point. A $349 XBO would outsell PS4 even more, but a drop for PS4 to $349 would even out sales. I have a feeling this gen will turn out much like last gen unless one system does/has something that makes a great difference(no not the difference between 1080 and 900p people dont notice that shit unless you are a gaming loser) there wont be much of a market shift.

Buddy there was bundle for 450 with TF and one years of gold, add subtract and X1 price was 340.  Still got sparked by PS4 in NA sales wise.

There already was a massive market shift when PS4 took a small majority of US market comapred to last gen.

*my post is in bold for no reason and the edit will not let me change that for some reason

Whatever makes you sleep better at night. A multiplatform shooter xbox gamers can play is $40-$60 vs a $340 for the same game with a console that has next to no worthwhile games. I expect PS4 to sell as well as the $400 PS3. I expect X1 to sell as well as $500 360 sold. Dealer specific deals dont mean too much, I didnt know about the deal and I visit Target and Walmart(the only major retailers in my area) once a week so Im not sure when this deal happened(not that I doubt that it did) so Im sure plenty of other people didnt know/access to it. There was not advertisement for the $400 X1 or whatever price it was. The overall price drop will spur sales because people see it as a price drop as a drop to 350 for PS4 would result in a overall raise in sales. Remember PS3 vs 360 same thing flipped around.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

@Italics:

Remember PlayStation != Xbox

simple math tells you that as long as Playstation is outselling Xbox every month (except december, 3/4 go figure) thats is a month that the xb1 would have to outsell the PS4 and sell more than the PS4 outsold the XB1 by just to be able to catch up.

The PS3 was selling a lot after its launch failure only to barely catch up with the 360 in the end.

I think Microsoft knows they have no chance of losing the NA market.  Just a matter of time. But they will lose Sony if it doesn't make enough money to keep it's balance sheet and pay it's debts.

You seem to be mistaken my dear friend, Microsoft has already lost the US market. Not even Titanfall, mass bundling, and a pricedrop managed to win it back for them. If none of those things worked then what could MS possibly do from this point on?  I also noticed you didn't answer any of my questions.
