Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Post NPD fallout: The central question imo is if a X1 that was cheaper than PS4 would outsell PS4

Zappykins said:

Nah, there is nothing Microsoft needs to do to Win the US market.  It's already happening. US and Uk are going to Xbox as they did 7th gen.  And funny that the WiiU is spanking the PS4 hard in Japan.

Do you understand how sales work? The PS4 has sold more in the US than the XBO. A lot more. You do understand that the bigger number wins right? This is kindergarten level math buddy. 3.20m > 2.92m. The PS4 is outselling the XBO in the US every month and you still think Microsoft is winning?  And the WiiU is doing what? Once again are you just making up numbers now? Last week the PS4 outsold the WiiU more than 2:1 in Japan, but I'm not sure what the WiiU has anything to do with this argument. Once again, 12k > 5k.

I didn't think your question was serious as nobody who understand gaming would ever think TitanFall it Microsoft exclusive game this year.  It's not even a Microsoft made game nor and Xbox One game, nor even an Xbox exclusive (you can get it on PC) but nice try.

Nice try? You're the one who kept saying that Titanfall was going to lock down the entire US market for Microsoft. Nice backpedal there, I love it when people are proven wrong so they completely change their stance. Really exposes true colors. Wait did you seriously say Titanfall isn't an XBO game? Oh my God hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! I can't hahahahahahah, oh hahahahahahahahaha this is too much!

The question will be can Sony stay in the black well enough to keep going.  Will be interesting to see what Amazon does, we know Steam is up to something.  They will put pressure on that company.

Another interesting backpedal, you said that the Steam Machine was going to be a complete failure, now you're saying Sony should be worried about it. But once again you've gone off topic, can't just talk about Microsoft eh?

And once again you failed to answer any of my earlier questions. Sony's success has really made you upset hasn't it? I can't believe you want a company to go bankrupt and tens of thousands of people to lose their jobs just so you can win a console war. Don't be too down on PS4's success, there's always next gen.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

At $350, it would match sales. At $300, it would win NA and UK by a landslide.

Even at 300 it really wouldnt, it would eak out a win (55%ish) but no landslide ever.

Lack other advantages for a landslide, just look at what it took for 360 to do it.

At $399, Xbox One definitely would have won.

That's it. Xbox One could drop to 399 or even 349 provided they're willing to drop Kinect, which I'm betting MS suits are getting ready to do right now (probably at E3 orf course) in view of weak sales.

So lets say a $349, no Kinect, Xbox One existed. The question is, could it outsell PS4? Just in North America/UK or worldwide? Or is the most powerful hardware impossible to overcome? Would people still prefer the $399 PS4 for more 1080P games?

I think that's the question MS has to be scared of, if the answer is no. Then, like Wii U, they truly are trapped.

I would say it would at least start selling 1:1 in the US as long as it has a big game like Halo or something.  Otherwise I kinda feel like MS lost the UK completely.  I mean sure the Xbox 360 did well there, but look how quickly they threw xbox under the bus.  The UK is the perfect example of the "There is no such thing as brand loyalty" theory.  I am a subscriber to this theory btw (Within reason).

360 handidly won the US for a while, and has still sold more units in NA and UK than the PS3. If MS cut the One's price by $200, I could see it selling 50% more than the PS4 in NA, easily.

Just US presumably?

If they would have launched at the same price then the ONE would be wining. Its obvious.

Jesus, there is only 10% between them in sales in the US, it would easily be ahead.

But they didn't and so this is pointless.

Actually it isn't so "obvious". The Xbone was $450 with a free $60 game bundled. A PS4 with a new game costs $460. If price was the only factor then XBO would have won March's NPD results. The fact that the Xbone didn't even come close should be telling that there are multiple reasons as to why PS4 is ahead.

Exactly.  Nothing is black and white peope.  You don't lose your biggest market overnight for 1 reason...

Alot of people saw X1 winning March ndp and PS4 sales dropping after xmas, then Jan then feb then march and so on and so on. There would be nothing easy about it, just casue you seedoes not make anything about the outcome at all realistic.

360 had a few other thing go right for it X1 does not even if they fixed the price issue and had a sku going for 299.99

PS3 was over priced as fuck, PS4 is not
360 had the better 3rd party games, now its reversed.
360 had more games, now its reversed.
360 was easy to dev on PS3 was a bitch, even this has reversed this gen.
360 had a years head start, X1 does not.
And the biggest was Sony own giant early fuck up, something revresed this gen.

In the US ,likely

WW, no way. Microsoft's problems go beyond the price tag.

Thanks :)

When you look at that chart, it is really hard to see how Microsoft will turn things around.
