Well that's just what I'm predicting anyway hehe! I think if they're to have another Direct soon, it'd only make sense to have it focused almost entirely on Mario Kart 8, as really there isn't much of anything else that they could talk about at this point. E3 is just around the corner afterall, so if they were to have another Direct before then, it'd be about stuff coming before E3, and to my knowledge, asside from MK8 that only includes NES Remix 2, Mario Golf World Tour, and Kirby Triple Deluxe. We already know much about these games, especially since Kirby was already released in Japan months ago, so only a minute or two would need to be spent on each game, while the vast majority of the time could be spent on Mario Kart 8. Of course that's assuming these games even get featured at all, which I doubt they will. Game specific Directs have only ever featured the game the direct is about, be it Pokemon, Wonderful 101, Smash Bros., or Tomodachi, and if games like the latter three can get their own directs, then likely the single biggest game the Wii U ever gets sure can too! Plus I'd expect this direct to be the final bit of MK8 news before the game launches, so it'd probably air a week or two before then, meaning the other games will have already released at this point.
So with why they'll have a Mario Kart 8 direct out of the way, the question now becomes, do they have enough to talk about? Afterall we've already seen most of the tracks, and if 30 really is the final roster amount, then there's just 3 characters plus Mii left to reveal. All that could be shown off in a single two minute trailer. Infact that's exactly what I expect them to do, but the trailer will be at the end of the direct, and at the end of that trailer will be Rainbow Road to maximize hype level! Before that though, they could easily spend 15-20 minutes talking about the game's features n modes, which they have not done at all since E3, where they only barely scraped the surface. Sure it wont be as long as the Smash Direct, but as the Tomodachi Direct proved, it doesn't have to be to warrant it's own direct! Now these features I'm talking about could/better include Battle mode, VS mode, Mission mode, online play, Mario Kart TV, and any other new features they might have added. They could easily go indepth with these features, like for example in online play, what online modes there'll be, you can choose between team races/battles, how communitys have been improved, how the ranking system works, how you'll be able to play with up to three local friends online, and so ons!
