Forums - Gaming Discussion - Xbox One Version of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Game Canceled or Delayed? Completely Axed from Official Site

The video game tie-in for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is going to be released on multiple platforms, and it was also supposed to come for Xbox One, yet something very strange just happened, as discovered by NeoGAF user SolidOne.

Activision has removed all references to the Xbox One version of the game from the official site, including the logo at the bottom and the ability to pre-order the title, as you can see from the screenshots below. SolidOne also reports that rumors from Germany indicate that a major retailer is sending mails to customers that preordered, mentioning that the game has been canceled.

The Xbox One release date has also been removed from the EB Games Canada (changed to a “To be Confirmed 2014″) Amazon UKGameStop Germany and Amazon Italy, while Amazon Germany has removed the listing completely. All other versions have retained their previously announced release dates on April 29th in the US and May 2nd in Europe, indicating that the Xbox One version has either been delayed or axed completely.

We reached out to Activision for a clarification on the issue, and we’ll keep you updated on any relevant information we might receive.

Update: MCVUK got official word from Activision, confirming that the Xbox One version has either been delayed indefinitely or canceled outright:

Well, the WiiU can't be the one to get left out forever :D

If it was just the dropdown menu I would say maybe a glitch, but the picture doesn't show it either? :/

Thanks jlmurph!

Wow, that's a big miss for the bone, for sure. It's movie adaptations that make a difference in console wars, for sure
Let's call it eye for an eye - Xbone got Titanfall, PS4 gets Amazing Spiderman 2

Still wondering what happened to the port... They are suspiciously silent about the reasons for the delay.

I would assume Sony had the rights to merchandising for the film, since it is made by Sony pictures.

It's a movie tie-in though. It's probably gonna suck and not sell too much anyway. I wouldn't read too much into this. It's not like what Ubisoft tried to stealthly do with Watch_Dogs on WiiU

I knew Xbox One can't put up with WiiU. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is the beginning of the end.

This has to be the biggest "no reason" damage control ever. It's not like Second Son didn't just come out. And it's not like people are ever gonna say "You having a tough time choosing between PS4 and XBone? Well, PS4 has Amazing Spiderman 2 so you should definitely drop top dollar to get that game"....not to mention the game is on PS3, 360, WiiU, 3DS, and PC....

MS: "You HAVE to make it look and perform same on XOne and PS4, or else..."
Activision: "Yeah right, guess it will be 'or else' then" /cancels XOne version
