The video game tie-in for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is going to be released on multiple platforms, and it was also supposed to come for Xbox One, yet something very strange just happened, as discovered by NeoGAF user SolidOne.
Activision has removed all references to the Xbox One version of the game from the official site, including the logo at the bottom and the ability to pre-order the title, as you can see from the screenshots below. SolidOne also reports that rumors from Germany indicate that a major retailer is sending mails to customers that preordered, mentioning that the game has been canceled.
The Xbox One release date has also been removed from the EB Games Canada (changed to a “To be Confirmed 2014″) Amazon UK, GameStop Germany and Amazon Italy, while Amazon Germany has removed the listing completely. All other versions have retained their previously announced release dates on April 29th in the US and May 2nd in Europe, indicating that the Xbox One version has either been delayed or axed completely.
We reached out to Activision for a clarification on the issue, and we’ll keep you updated on any relevant information we might receive.
Update: MCVUK got official word from Activision, confirming that the Xbox One version has either been delayed indefinitely or canceled outright:
