Next sale, Spiderman.

Why? I know why YOU are saying this. But Sony is smarter than that. Spider-Man makes them a lot of money.

On a side-note the Amazing Spiderman 2 for Xbone is delayed until unknown

Hmmm. Basic lack of accounting understanding here.

Just $47m of that is profit.

Over $100m of it is the return of their OWN original investment.

So the profit gain that will show on the accounts next FY is $47m dollars. The rest is a balance sheet swap of an investment to cash.

$47m is a welcome windfall, but kinda tiny in the grand scheme of things for a company of this size.

47M in the plus is not bad news when your company is bleeding money. It's steps like this that will make them post big profits in a couple of years. It's the plan at least.

How?  Its a one off sale of an asset for cash.

It has zero impact on future profits.

They can invest the money or repay debt to pay lower interest? What do you think companies do with cash?

I know far better than you do to be honest... on account of the fact that I actually run one and have for over a decade.

More likely in their current state they will simply use it for working capital?  who knows?

But if they are to repay some debt with it then 47m is a drop in the Pacific in this instance.  It wont lead to "big profits"

If you think this is a big deal then by all means you carry on in that belief.

Love how you try to put words in others mouths and then carry on as if it's a real argument! No one said this would save them or make them profit as much as Apple or some such thing. I merely pointed out that they profited and that's good enough for a company in their position. You can't begin to be profitable if you're losing money left and right. So this is a good move.

I am actually surprised that they sold at a profit.

Marvel would have to pay a few billion dollars for that

Disney would pay 1.5 billion tops. There's no way JUST Spiderman is worth anything close to Lucasfilms or Marvel Studios

Wow those movie profit margins are so low. I wish Sony would sell Spiderman to Marvel. I haven't enjoyed the new spiderman made by Sony and would prefer him appearing in those movies made by Marvel.

In a way I am jealous. I am jealous that a corporation is willing to sell their assets just to afford their fans the continued privilege to brag on the internet.

Offcourse that isn't their concern but a nice side-bonus for fans regardless.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.
