Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4 Sales Graph Shows Amazingly Stable Growth Since January, No Sign of Slowing Down

Today we learned that the PS4 has sold seven million units worldwide, but is the demand for Sony’s new console finally slowing down? Apparently it isn’t, at least since January.

Sony has given sales data for the PS4 at fairly regular intervals, and inserting those numbers in a spreadsheet, comparing them the date Sony has communicated for each figure, we get the graph below.

As you can see the PS4 had a natural initial spur in 2013, but what’s most interesting is what happens after December 31st. The line showing the growth of the installed base of the new console is impressively straight, showing no visible sign of a slowdown.

It almost seems designed on purpose, but it isn’t, and it certainly demonstrates that the demand for the PS4 continues to remain constant, at least for now.

We’ll have to wait and see just how long this impressive momentum will continue, but so far, so good.

The graph shows stable stock, not stable demand because - after all - stock hasn't met demand yet .

Technically very true. Still stock wouldn't be an issue if the demand wasn't there. You can see this very clearly when comparing it to the competition, who can obviously stock up as fast as Sony can, but does not enjoy the same level of demand.

Yes I agree but they claim demand remains constant but we can't really say that for now.

So true. Sony is only able to ship a certain amount of consoles, these graphs only show their ability how much they can ship.

Why thank you . Yes, demand has kept up with stock since launch and that is showing no signs of changing.

Hopefully the amount they can ship will start to increase soon.

But... but... they say its available on amazon, so it must have met demand already!

/rolleyes

This Just proves how poor Sony is that they couldn't ship 20M consoles in january and close de deal.
