Forums - Microsoft Discussion - GAME's Xbox-Only Shop Closing Down - News

GAME Boxpark - a dedicated Xbox-only shop in London - is due to shut down before the end of this month. The shop opened in June of last year to showcase Xbox 360 and Xbox One products.

According to GAME, it was only ever intended to be a short term project; something that their other stores would learn from. Speaking to MCV, GAME executive Dave Howard said:

"The short-term contract location for the dedicated Xbox store has given us real insight into what consumers expect from the next generation of retail.

Customers really showed an appetite for hands-on experience, interactive displays and a way to digitally access Xbox Live content. We will continue to innovate our stores with Microsoft."

Then renew your store's contract for long term if it were satisfying the customer's "appetite for hands-on experience, interactive displays and a way to digitally access Xbox Live content."

Then it wouldn't be a short-term contract location.

So it lasted for as long as MSoft payed the rental of the store.

But if that brings GAME to put one or two demo stands in every store to allow consumers to try the games, it will be money well spent!

Please excuse my bad English.

I somehow don't trust these words.. I'd believe it being shut down because it was a flop though.

Good riddance. Now do a Sony one!

Need the room for the Nintendo Store. Obviously.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Makes sense. It was becoming a black hole.

Great for consumers who haven't decided what console to buy and are relying on in-store demonstration of multiple consoles. I guess it was an experiment in doing an apple store approach with the xbox brand. I guess it failed.

A tiny store like That no way it was intended to be a long term endeavor... They'd a full blown Microsoft store with XBox focus at opening in a major location if it was.. Certainly not use GAME to do it.. Since the company is failing and game store are gonna be dead like a blockbuster within a decade or so anyway...
