Forums - Gaming Discussion - Halo and Destiny composer Marty O'Donnell was fired from Bungie for no reason

This just makes no sense whatsoever. I mean......it's Marty. The guy is a legend
How do you FIRE him?!

Thus is very strange, but I'm sure this was not done lightly. We only have one side of the story and the whole internet is freaking out. Bungie might have to release a statement just to calm people down. It's strange how people act like they deserve an explanation. I just feel like the internal goings on in a company don't have to be made public. Well, not to customers anyway. Investors, maybe.

So you guys believe a twitter post by someone who was just let go? If it's a genuine firing for no reason then he can sue for wrongful termination. If it's genuine it should also be kept private.

In the end he is just an employee of a company no matter his name and can be fired for various reasons. Just because Bungie haven't come out and said why (yet he has ranting on twitter I might add) doesn't mean there isn't a good reason.

Hmm, pie.

I heard he banged hookers and snorted coke in the Bungie office.

Hopefully 343 will offer him a job.

Bungie is in WA and they usually make you sign a termination at will contract up there. They can let you go anytime they want.

Anyway, I imagine they must have some reason. It just seems crazy, because Marty has been with them for like 20 years and is part of their heart and soul. Or was, anyway.....

I don't believe any of this "no reason" explanation. He probably tweeted that in the heat of the moment.

Just remember there are always two sides to every story.

To be honest... having a composer on a team when you make like 1 game each 3 years is a bit expensive.. composers should be hired on project base not full time employees..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Maybe we gonna find out soon that some Japanese guy really composed everything for him

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

But Marty doesn't only do the music. If I'm not mistaken, he's also involved with the audio recording for dialogue.
