It doesn't seem as easy as you suggest just to redesign the entire website to fit a mobile phone screen. Boshing out a few images on photoshop is all well and good but it takes time to create a steady and working mobile site which functions well on all mobile devices/browsers. They had numerous databases to work on and pages to change and just because it works now doesn't mean it can be converted easily. A responsive design would be a better choice probably, just removing features just to fit the screen.

This said they are probably working on something already. Give them time.

Hmm, pie.

This has been needed in the absolute worst way for a very long time.

I truly hope this does not get ignored by Brett.

You should PM or e-mail him with a direct link to this thread.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

It's a bloody good thing I have extensive experience with HTML5, PHP. CSS/CSS2, Ruby on rails, Perl and ASP then isn't it.

I vote NO. If your phone can't handle this website, then shame on you

HTC One FTW!

One is a Galaxy S4, one is an iPhone 5S, and the other is a Galaxy S5, the site handles like a piece of shit on all three.

Sorry if my reply came off critical, wasn't meant to be. There can be issues with website design and development to cater for certain things. VGChartz website seems very heavily based on databases and so has to work around them and while changes could be visual only, functions may change or might not work at all because of basic changes. Sometimes writing a website from scratch is easier than rebuilding an already existing database driven website to look different.

Yup Galaxies and WP sucks with it from my experience. My HTC One brower can handle it, minus the left side toolbar, which I can live without.

Functions may change but for the most part data held in the database does not, anyone worth their salt as a web developer builds to interact directly with that data rather than depending upon exterior interfaces.

But the thing here is, pulling data from the database is an extremely simple task, utilizing that data for visualizations is likewise, a simple task, the forums will no doubt be using a base system which would be more hastle than its worth to replace, but interfacing with that framework on a low enough level that minor changes wont effect performance or reliability, is again, somewhat basic for someone who knows what theyre doing.

What it boils down to is simply this, this site was built using software and designs fitting for the early 2000s, web compatibility with mobile devices is not even a consideration, i would hazard a guess that beyond (one would hope) the occasional security upgrade, the only other attention the code will have seen recently will be to do with placing ads.

As the code stands currently, its a shambles,  a mishmash of ideas and snippets taped together, and not very securely either.

Whole friggin site needs a reboot, keep the database data and start over with a fresh new look, tight streamlined code with functionality and form.

Chances of staff with an actual say in this though, actually taking me up on the offer or doing this themselves stands around 1%.

Yeah we need a mobile site!!

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

You realize, surely, that chrome / firefox / dolphin / etc codebase for web rendering is the exact same across these devices, right?
