I am not the first to say this and I feel like I should not be the last. But this generation of consoles is the least exciting I have ever seen. To be fair I'm on the old side for gamers, I've seen a lot of consoles come and go. This Gen worries me though. It statred with Nintendo under hyping their new console and having 3rd parties turn on them in a real bad way close to how 3rd parties turned on them for the N64, except this time THQ, Midway and Acclaim who had come to the aid of the N64 are dead as door nails. and their other old ally EA has turned on them harder than almost anyone Else. And Rare? Poor Rare. Once proud and strong now a gutted fish corpse that Microsoft is busy playing weekend at Bernie's with. also Nintendos past success has put them out of place in the world, like some one who has won so often that the first time he fails he can't figure out why. Nintendos WiiU is in my mind a great idea poorly executed.

but there's plenty of suck to go around Nintendo fans so don't feel picked on.

We come to the XBox One or XBone. As in "Holy $hit did we just bone our selves pre-Launch and accidently sold a ton of PS4!" Be honest: is the PS4 really that exciting? I mean compared to playstations past. Would you really pick it over PS1, PS2 or even PS3 in terms of exciting potential on it's release? It's not but when When Microsoft announced the XBone as in it's pre-launch form as a Big-Brother-is-Watching-Gamer-Raping-puppy-dog-murder-machine that it was the PS4 suddenly looked like a big tittied angel standing on a beach holding a cold glass of beer and offering all the "adult favors" you could handle. Of course M$ took all our crying and name calling to heart and cut all those Puppy murdering features. leaving us with 2 systems which honestly are so similar that gamers have taken to arguing over how many F**king pixels they can each put on the screen. Seriously, if that isn't a sign I don't know what is. the Number of pixels haven't mattered since since we jumped to 3D people. Get over it.

which brings us to the games. Where are the F**king games? Can you Honestly tell me that any of these games out now really justify the jump the Next Gen from the consumers stand point? Sure there are good games, maybe even a couple greats. But compared to previous systems? Now in fairness Gamer our selves have kind of been acting like entitled little B*tches about this. Game droughts after launches are actually historically normal. But we've also seen console launch with much stronger titles also. For Example the N64 had Mario 64 a game that changed games for ever, The Dreamcast had Soul Calibur and Sonic adventure and the first Xbox for god sake ran on shovel ware and sports titles for almost a year and it didn't even matter because everyone was to busy killing each other in Halo to even care! Sure Melee missed the launched of the game cube but it still came out before christmas. Oh, PS2 could play DVDs. best launch game ever.

It's not just lack of games that is a problem though. Let's take a look at what they are doing. Take Titan Fall. This game almost made me want a new system. It's sweet as F*ck. But is it ok that it has that small an amount of content and features that limited at full price? And with that big of an install? the answer is for some people: yes it will be, but not for everyone. The bigger question is would it be ok for every game to be made that way? and the answer to that is NO. MGS: Ground Zero also falls victim to some of this. In fairness to ground Zero they at least didn't ask full price and even gave an extra discount for digital sales, But heres the thing some people are still going to feel cheated. It's a game best enjoy by completionists those people who are going to play the same game over and over just to see every little thing. But if you're the type of gamer that skips side quest in RPGs and just follows the story quests it's probably better if you just rent it or skip it all together. The truth is the abillity to download new content and patch games after they have been already released is in theory great news for gaming, but in practice has made Publishers lazy and greedy just look at Battle Field 4.

We are also forgetting that no matter how much the big 3 want to ignore it the gaming land scape has changed. it's not really a 3 system race. The big guys market is being slowly eaten by tablets and open source console look like they could surprise us any day. Sure the Ouya is joke, but there's not really anything stopping some one from doing their idea better and who knows where this steam box thing could go.

Honestly I am kind of disapointed by every thing I am seeing and frankly I think a crash could happen any day...

P.S. Does this site seriously not have a spell check feature? if you guys see any mistakes let me know. Thank you.

Well I liked lots of games from 7th gen, and 8th gen is almost the same thing (With a sales switch) so this one should have tons of great games!

Other than the Wii U the 8th gen's been lackluster so far, I agree. Nintendo had a head start, though. By the end of 2014 I expect the PS4 and Xbox One will have truly great games.

I'm not gonna say it sucks because the gen is just beginning, but certainly is the one with less upgrades in every ambit. At the end games are what matters, and we still have a few years ahead to come.

The games are where any 6 month old consoles games are, still in production.

I did read this part lol

Hmm, I do agree there seems to be an overall lack of "excitement" around this gen but maybe its more us than the companies...

We have social media and leaks up the ass that basically kill all hype cause we know whats coming up before hand its hard to be excited for anything anymore these days. Also, I believe the other gens, we also had a shit ton of droughts so this isn't unusual see that there aren't that many exciting games coming out for the first year for the respective consoles however with again, social media, this is exaggerated up the ass

So, I think its all normal and the internet is killing the hype and we should all go back to being cavemen cause fuck technology
