Yeah i was disappointed by Retro not pushing things too (excluding dat sweet sweet fur :p). Still, we have several years to go before this gen is over. Hopefully by the end of it the WiiU will have a title people can look back on as the one that really showed what it could do (like Halo for the 360 and TLOU/Uncharted for the PS3).

Of the games announced so far, I have my eye on Monolith Soft's X, FAST Racing Neo, and Art of Balance. Others like Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Project CARS, and Yarn Yoshi will likely also look good, but on a more technically modest level.

mario kart 8 and bayonetta 2 are certainly not on the modest level. we have yet to see the others but i don't thing project cars and yoshi will be modest either.

I mean modest relative to X/FAST in terms of pushing the chipset.

They are.

Then we agree; Mario Kart 8 and Bayonetta 2 will look very nice, but won't be quite as technically advanced as FAST or X.

we don't agree. I say MK 8 and bayo 2 aren't modest relative to "pushing the chipset". if they are in the exact same level of X I can't be sure, but they certainly are very demanding.

I doubt they're going to push Wii U's hardware as hard as X's massive open worlds and Shin'en's new engine.

maybe, but you originaly said they are technicaly "modest", wich is different from being as demanding as X.

I said "more technically modest" as in "more technically modest than FAST/X."

Got it now. but we still have to wait and see cause MK 8 certainly looks stunning.

Indeed it does, and as we haven't even seen FAST we don't know what we are dealing with yet. Historically though, Shin'en's game are more technically orientated than Nintendo games.

Here's a pre-alpha screen of Art of Balance, using the engine FAST runs on.

Damn impressive if you ask me.

I think fast racing neo will top most ps4/xone racers. shin'en guys even said they're using the largest size of texture that currently exists and the engine was meant to use wii u's power.
