For instance, Retro Studios pushed the GC and Wii hard, then their first Wii U game is stiflingly conservative on the technical front. Yeah i was disappointed by Retro not pushing things too (excluding dat sweet sweet fur :p). Still, we have several years to go before this gen is over. Hopefully by the end of it the WiiU will have a title people can look back on as the one that really showed what it could do (like Halo for the 360 and TLOU/Uncharted for the PS3).
