I think the Wii U version is still somewhere in the 20k range for pre-orders.

Between people switching platforms, hysteria about the Wii U version getting cancelled, general goodwill of the game probably getting a high metascore, interest in the gamepad features, packaged DLC, and resurgent interest in the Wii U -- I say Wii U version still gets 70k FW. :)

NFS Most Wanted U had a high metascore, gamepad features and packaged DLC and only sold something like 6k in the first week.

NFS MWU didn't have preorders. It launched early in the console lifecycle in a non-peak season for game releases. WD WiiU is releasing in a healthier time frame for game releases(fall/holidays) following the WiiU obtaining a higher userbase through MK8.

While NFS had pretty high acclaim, the hype level for the new NFS was pretty marginal compared to what WD's overall hype is going to be.

This is an example of "a rising tide floats all boats".
