Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Kinect Sports Rivals is a flop. What happened?

You need more than one week to determine if a game is a major flop. This game barely had a week in the market so it's not right to call it a major flop.

Things like the PS4 in Japan are considered a major flop though as they had several weeks to sell and it couldn't beat the first weeks of the Wii U.

well, even op didn't call the game a "major flop", only a regular "flop"

Regardless this trend of calling something a flop after one week needs to stop.  It was said about Mario 3D World, another game i cant remember, and then this.  Im not sure if theyre meant to be parities or not but all it does is make the op look bad.  Though in this case i like the op but i still dont approve of these type of threads.

Even on Amazon USA, it's currently only the ninth best-selling Xbox One game, so I guess it's really not that popular.

Then again, it's true that this is simply not the time of the year for Kinect games. Kinect hardware and software sales were always huge around christmas and rather lousy the rest of the year, because Kinect hardware and software is typically being bought as christmas presents for small kids.

School ends for most kids around this time of year in America (spring break and then summer vacation not too long after that). I think that's what they were going for.

it should be a free game in the first place... well, perhaps M$ want to sell some of it first then bundle with next XB1 for free later on...

It's actually pretty good, when was the last time a casual game hit top 10?

Call of Duty Ghosts? I mean, even Infinity Ward considers Call of Duty to be a casual franchise!

10th is still too high, Kinect titles should sell as little as possible so that MS drops it as quickly as possible.

Gonna go ahead and lock this anyway.

Its way too soon for such a thread.

Not sure what you count as a casual game, but even if you discount things like FIFA it happens pretty often.  Minecraft is usually up there.  This week Lego The Hobbit is at 5th.  Last week The Lego Movie Videogame was 10th.  Lego Marvel has also been in the top ten this year.  Just Dance was last in the week before Christmas.
