Forums - Sales Discussion - Why are there so many Xbox One price cuts? Xbox One sales are bad.

Xbox One is performing in UK/US (right now)

Great 18 5.07%

Good 51 14.37%

Decent 115 32.39%

Bad 91 25.63%

Depressing 55 15.49%

See results 24 6.76%

Total:354

X1 isn´t selling very good at all, but the thing is, PS4 is only selling decent at best aswell. They are selling comparatively bad in both UK and US, X1 is terrible in other territories and PS4 terrible in Japan. Trying to focus on PS4 "success" and X1/WiiU "failure" is naive since this whole generation is becoming obsolete fast after an amazing start.

Sorry, could you elaborate on how you see these consoles being obsolete at about 5 months after launch? I want to know how you got to this considering their comparisons to the sales of the previous consoles in the same timeframe after launch if possible

The 360 during the same week in 2006 sold 103,000. And that wasn't considered great, it wasn't until after PS3's launch that it started having good sales.

So yes, it's not doing well. It's not doing terrible either. Decent but disappointing.

Xbox sales although not as good as ps4 are still very good. No concerns.

I think the issue is ppl are thinking in relative terms. Xbone sales relative to PS4 are bad, Xbone sales in absolute terms are actually pretty good.

in usa yes, in UK now they are yes. in the rest of EU they are beyond terrible. and in the rest of the world as well.

Xbone is selling well; just not as well as the PS4.

Poor PSP and Vita

USA and UK are doing decent numbers for Xb one. They are the only markets keeping Xb one relevant. It's doing terribly in all other markets that are significant for global sales.

Absolutely. we have gone from a generation where we did not have smartphones, to this generation where they affect everything we do.

When I compare generations, I look at the best seller compared to the second best seller and so on. Comparing PS4 to PS3 and X1 to 360 is irrelevant since the leader of each generation changes.

By the end of june 2007, Wii sales stood at 9,27 million., where the sale-through was very high (alot of people bought Wii). When looking at the second place console, the WiiU ()as it stands now) it is selling far lower than 360 at the same time.

Looking at the third place console, X1 is being heavily outsold by PS3.

So every comparative console is selling less than its counterpart at the same time. This leds me too think that this generation will be a disaster sales-wise for all three. That is why we should focus on how we can make every console a success, rather than a failure.

What bugs me are Wii U apologists who are trying to pretend the Xbox One is doing as badly as the Wii U. I have both, but I can tell the difference between 14,000 and 66,000.

The Xbox One isn't doing as bad as the WiiU. But where did you get 66k vs. 14k?

That's roughly how many each of the two systems sold last week in the US.

well...yeah...it was 15K to 61K but meh, close enough.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Agreed. MS is looking desperate. Cutting the price and bundling in their best game looks weak. They quickly promoted Spencer to turn things around and betrayed the very concept of Xbox One's name:one system to meet all your entertainment needs. Now they are saying gaming first. It makes them look hypocritical. I haven't trusted MS for along time--rrod--and now I trust them less.w I will stick with PlayStation.

Just a tip... don´t trust VGChartz numbers...

But any way, it´s obvious that $400 is the sweet price point for the XOne.
