You know what's amazing with sequels, dlc and mostly anything people are ranting about ?

You are not forced to buy them.

Now one is saying we have to buy them and the OP isn't talking about sequels and dlc in general which I'm sure you already know that. But FF was before Gen 7. We (gamers) spent one full gen in FF13 with 3 games and it seems that trend might continue in Gen 8. Before Gen 7 we, on average, would get 3 different iterations of FF. It just sucks that new and different FF games might get pushed back if because of sequels.

However if the sequels are great by all means keep 'em coming.

Since when are we supposed to make sense here ?

First off, even if it seems some very vocal people on the forum didn't like them, the sequels did find a public.

Second, they said sequels were necessary to justify a AAA JRPG's budget, and given what we saw this gen from AA JRPG, i can only agree.

Finally, the reason we only saw FFXIII trilogy this last 8 years is because of FFXIV 2.0. FFvXIII was planned as a 7th gen game.

I'm pretty surewe will see both a FFXV and FFXVI trilogy this gen. And let's not forget that square is more than Final Fantasy, we got some great games on handeld this gen ! From Dissidia to Bravely Default, with kingdom hearts and The world ends with you.

And I strangely didn't hear any complaints about bravely default having a sequel btw

Well XIII-3 barely, if at all, found a public. And I completely understand that to justify the budget they have to make sequels. I just hope that it doesn't stall future FF games (i.e. FFXVI).

I can't comment on Bravely Default since I've never played and don't really know much of it other than it supposed opened Square Enix's eyes.

Agreed. Everytime, the ending of the first game (which is always good) is ruined by the sequels...

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

I think they should do sequels if they can do them right. So far they proved they couldn't. (see FFXIII)
With XV, a team containing the core members of FFVII, FFVIII, IX, KH series, and Type-0, I can see them successfully making a good sequel to FFXV if there is enough to build on.

I don't think that will mean we will never nothing BUT sequels until that team moves onto something else, because this is SE we're talking about. Right now they could have a team working on FFXVI.

What about spinoffs like VS. XIII? That game is gonna be spectacular when it finally comes out!

People seem to be forgetting the FF franchise doesn't consist of one team. There's quite a few teams that work on those games within the company.
I do not understand those who say XIII was awful means FF is dead.

I'm starting to get off topic so I'll stop.

I'm actually fine with one game in a numbered series and another game in a sub series. I'm not a fan of sequels in FF. Or even better, use the resources (for the sequels) to create a new IP or resurrect a dormant one from the PS1 days (or before).

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

I liked FFX-2, it felt like an ode to the earlier entries with an open world and tons of side content.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

They already did on revenant wings. Didn't like the game but it wasn't as harshly criticized as FFXIII-2/3

11 Million total sales so far for the FFXIII Trilogy.

Just FFXIII's first title sold 5.13 Million on PS3 and 2.05 Million on XB360 not even counting digital sales. That's 7.18 Million total, which makes it the 4th best selling single FF title of all time without factoring digital sales. It could even be the 3rd best selling FF if we knew digital sales.

It's basically the 3rd best ever selling single title in the FF franchise in my eyes. It deserves that spot. Deal with it.

sequels are good.. too bad they haven't made a really out of this world FF since FF XIII.. XIII-2 is not anywhere near as good as XIII (imo)
