Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy shouldn't have sequels.

If they make a bunch of money off of XV they'll do a sequel, if they don't they'll do a sequel. At this point I pretty much expect XV to have sequels, although I would prefer it not have them and they move on to Final Fantasy XVI.

I honestly have no idea. I would assume they would have learned from XIII that sequels don't always generate sales. But I have no clue about the development costs of each game so I'm not exactly sure.

Well, if XV turns out to be a great game then I won't mind.

From what I gather it's FF XIII-2 is half of FF XIII and LR is half of FF XIII-2

XIII cost 60 million, so 60 to 30 to 15.

I can maybe understand XIII's cost due to time it was in development, XV will have the same issue. But XIII-2 still costing 30 million? That's a lot. Sequels are meant to be that much cheaper because you have the resources. But then, most sequels don't make that much of a change gameplay wise.

CoD games are released yearly, now 3 companies are working on them at any one time. SquEnix could use this idea. The sales will come as it's what people want, new FF games, then sequels can come from those 3 companies if needed. But they won't need to release yearly, jsut ever 2 or more.

That or SquEnix might be better of on a more production line setup for FF games, a team working on music, art, character designs, and when each part is done, hand it down the line, with a director to over see their current project. Sequels can be done by a separate team using those assets.

This is all said in the plain knowledge I have no idea how games companies spend their money.

Hmm, pie.

I wanted to delete that post. Truth is I just don't know for sure. FF XIII cost between 60 and 80 million $ and the rest is rumors.

It's called FINAL fantasy. One game, each iteration. One awesome story that actually ends.

Gameplay they can always take and tweak for the next epic story.

edit: although i really enjoyed Crisis Core

I didn't mind things like Crisis Core that kind of like expanded on the same game but.....these sequels are an excuse of a Final Fantasy.
Final Fantasy XIII-2? Final Fantasy XIII - Lightning Returns? The only thing that I want returned is my money (?)

Jokes aside, It would be nice to hear a "Hey, we're making a NEW final fantasy, no sequel, no Fabula Nova Crystallis-related stuff. BRAND-NEW!"

By the way, this makes me wonder....how far will the numbers go? I wonder....
