Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony's 1st party multiplayer fail

Ahhhhh I got you. That is odd though because for me even with having big hands I preferred the DS3 over the 360 controller and I like the PS4 controller more than the XB1 controller. Of course it is just my preference. And the stick alignment is fine either way though I think the PS controller alignment is more natural. But to his/her own no biggie there.

Im sorry it seems that none of you playstation fans like playing mp games with your friends? I just have bad communication skills that's obvious but the point im trying to make is that for playstation fans like myself, it's harder to find friends who have a playstation console because while most of my friends are off playing halo and gears on xbox or my nerdy friends are off playing pc games where does that leave a ps fan like myself? And I am an american in college guess where xbox reigns supreme due to what i'm talking about. Sony needs to have that big franchise that caters to these people so they get ps4's. I personally know way more people who are waiting on xb1 than ps4 due to halo and gears, and I can't persuade them elsewise because what does Sony have to compete?

And I do realize now that size doesn't matter. So forgive me with that.

Also btw I play a ton of more sp games than mp, a ton more!!!

I'm sorry if you are just now realizing this, but if you enjoy multiplayer games you should have bought the same console that all of your friends have.  85% of all the titles are the same anyway.  My friends and I enjoy Sony's 1st party games more than Microsoft so we went that route.  If your friends own a Xbox One then you probably should have bought one yourself.

If you are in it for the multiplayer games then playing along side your friends trumps (almost) any exclusives.  You'll certainly get more play time out of your console.  I live stream and the question I get asked all the time is "Which console should I buy?"  I always tell them the same thing, "Buy whatever your friends have."

BTW my PSN id is Buckwheat.  Add me if you want to play sometime.

I think the ps4 controller dictates they should just stay in the single player lane. XBOX will always be better than playstation in terms of multiplayer, the difference is XBOX has an opportunity to catch playstation in the single player titles, starting with Quantum Break.

What do you mean with your first statement? Is something wrong with the PS4 controller or something?

The alignment of the sticksand controller is why many call xbox the shooter console. Of course the many shooter games, but even many developers use xbox controllers during development as recent as the watch dogs and the division developers.

I'm sorry, but that makes little sense to me.  Hold your hands in front of you and tell me where your thumbs are located?  Is one higher than the other?  What about when your arms are by your sides.  Do you always have the left thumb higher than the right one?  I think the more natural feel is to have them side by side.

(1) I am a PC gamer and i did buy a 360 and a X1 however i only did so because of Halo and Gears. There games you will talk about for years and the community is so big on each game.

(2) Its the reason why PS Allstars failed because lets be honest, who really wants to play as Nathan Drake?

(3) Becuase at the end of the day, while MS and Nintendo have the characters, Sony rely on 3rd party to offer those experinces but when you look at the bigger picture those games are most likely on Xbox aswell.

(4) So why would a gamer consider buying a PS4 for Destiny when X1 has Destiny and the next Halo? both expected to have a huge fan base and community.

Your entire comment is very subjective and narrow minded as if you only consider the conditions in the US (I was surprised to see you're an Australian).

(1) Halo and Gears are blockbusters in the US due to their huge advertising budgets. Here in the EU people aren't particularly hyped for Halo and Gears.

Crash Bandicoot for example, was far bigger in EU and 1+2+3+CTR+Bash+Wrath of Cortex+Nitro Kart has sold 1.80 mill on average (PS only) whereas Halo CE+2+3+ODST+Reach+CE Anniversary+4 has sold 1.51 mill on avg (XB only). Same thing goes for Fable 1+2+3 (0.76 mill on avg), GeoW 1+2+3+Judgment (1.29) and Forza 1+2+3+4+Horizon (1.12).

For comparison in EU (PS only): Metal Gear Solid 1+2+3+4 (1.74 mill on avg) and Gran Turismo 1+2+Concept 2001 Tokyo+3+4+5P+5+6 (3.29).

(2) Apparently as many people want to play as Nathan Drake as Marcus Fenix so I don't get your point.

(3) PS is more dependent on 3rd parties than Xbox? You can't be serious?

PS4

Uncharted 4 (1st party)
Driveclub (1st party)
Killzone SF (1st party)
Infamous SS (1st party)
PlanetSide 2 (1st party)
The Order 1886 (3rd party)
Deep Down (3rd party)
TimeSplitters Rewind (3rd party)
Yakuza Ishin (3rd party)

+ games from:

Polyphony Digital (1st party)
Guerrilla Games (1st party)
Santa Monica (1st party)
Media Molecule (1st party)
London Studio (1st party)
Bend Studio (1st party)
Sony Online Entertainment (1st party)
Quantic Dream (3rd party)

XB1

Halo 2 Anniversary (1st party)
Project Spark (1st party)
Forza 5 (1st party)
Ryse (3rd party)
Killer Instinct (3rd party)
Quantum Break (3rd party)
Sunset Overdrive (3rd party)
Titanfall (3rd party)
Dead Rising 3 (3rd party)

+ games from:

Lionhead Studios (1st party)
Rare (1st party)
Black Tusk Studios (1st party)

(4) Don't know why other than multiplats being superior on PS4. You should ask those who preordered Destiny for PS4. They sure are in much greater numbers than those who preordered for XB1.

Well thats why Playstation's doing better than Xbox.

On playstation, its not just about the most popular thing, every type of gamer matters.
Just because fewer people prefer a technical shooter over a casual shooter, it doesnt mean there should be 2 casual shooters and 0 realistic shooters, it should be 1-1. Sony fills most the gaps left by 3rd parties (which btw they also make money from)

TL;DR
Sony should make more games that are Call of Duty and Battlefield combined according to OP.

I'd like to know where you got the employee count.

From some interviews and a Major Nelson podcast.  I think they said they had about 80-90 developers and then some more support staff.  One of the support office staff was just hired for office stuff, then she ended up doing other things too.  As in she is the voice that says, "Your Titan is ready."

Now, I realized they are highly experienced and skilled staff for the large part. Making COD and other games, so it is very uncommon for a small staff to make such a large game, but it's possible.

As he stated in the Wiki they said 75, but I think that is an older number.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Are those numbers after the big layoffs?

Well you don't need a huge team to make a momentous game. Respawn has a fairly small but well experienced team. I think it's like 100 people or less including office staff.

Wikipedia says ~75 if that counts for anything.

Amazing is it!

Talent over quantity is always a good thing.
