Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony's 1st party multiplayer fail

So far Sony's studios have came out with plenty of great games in the past 2 decades. However I look at the Size of sony's first party studios staff and they all are small.

SCE Japan has multiple teams with around 400 employees in total.

SCE London has 300 employees per sony but they haven't made a aaa game since idk.

Naughty Dog has 2 teams each with around 125 devs. (Wiki)

Santa Monica has around 2-3 teams with an employee count of over 200 developers for the whole studio. (Sony)

Polyphony has over 140 people. (Sony)

Guerilla has 2 teams with an employee count of more than 160. (Sony)

Sucker Punch has a team of 80 devs.

Media Molecule has 47 (Official website).

San Diego isn't that big either and only makes mlb.

SCE Bend, Evolution, Cambridge and Foster City are small studios.

So where am I going at this?

Where is Sony's BIG Studio. And BIG Budget game.

While Microsoft has had Gears and Halo with thriving mp communities and huge budgets and dev. team sizes 343 is 300+ for one team, and Nintendo has the forever popular mario and pokemon. Both microsoft and nintendo have franchises that have gained big mainstream attraction so where are sony's?

The Last Of Us failed in mp since they couldn't add infected to it, warhawk, starhawk,  and mag failed to get any traction and are dead, and they failed with lbp karting and ps allstars with much limited budgets and vision. Uncharted had tacked on mp and resistance while fun also failed to delever anything new.

I love Sony but imo in the long run xbox will catch up if Sony doesn't take its head out of its ass and innovate in multiplayer. I love single player but with the ps4 its been just that. Only sp games. While microsoft has and will have mp focused games like titanfall, Dead Rising, plants vs. zombies garden warfare, sunset overdrive, and Halo 5. All of these have great communities, are popular, and are system sellers due to wanting to play with friends. PS4's exclusives consist of indies, indies, indies, Killzone:SF (bleh), Knack, Infamous 2nd son, MLB, and the Order. Where the fuck are the big budget games? Where the hell are the mp big sellers? Planetside: Delayed, Wheneverquest landmark comes out, and h1z1 are all games that could be huge but ofc who needs to release them on the ps4 anytime soon.

Sony has the perfect oppertunity with creating BIG new mp franchises with the MASSIVE success of the ps4 and they are failing to get any momentum with their games offerings. People are bored with shadowfall, and infamous 2nd son is a single player only game that people will forget about once they are done. So wtf is sony doing? They are letting microsoft get 3rd party exclusives like theres no tomorrow and are failing to release any new hits until the fall.

I am talking in point of the mainstream, and casual console market which makes up most of the marketshare. Don't give me your bullshit in the form of a sony fanboy or niche super hardcore master race gamer im talking about a bigger picture here.

The last of us is a new ip and has sold 6 million units, Sony has it's own style if you like multiplayer games that much just buy Xbox One with Titanfall and enjoy.

It's simple:

Sony invest on niche exclusives -> hipster reviewers give 10/10 -> Core gamers HAPPY -> Internet -> Word of mouth -> PS brand gets stronger -> Hardware sales boost -> Software sales boost ->Third parties make AAA mainstream blockbusters with exclusive content(batman, watch dogs,etc..) or full exclusive(Persona 5) -> Hardware boost->Software boost -> repeat 1.

Dude...Sony is fine and the big games always come within a two year window. I would be more worried about Microsoft if I were you when it comes to being creative and coming out with new exclusives themselves.

Could be just me but they are leaving that to the 3rd parties. While them self's focusing of specific games to separate and gain superiority over their competition.

Cod Destiny The Crew Division GTA and many others will fill the online mainstream role, SWS fill everything else best they can and it sure seems to work.

I dont need everything from Sony to be fps and online oriented, I buy PS casue i know ill get varierty and quality and SP is of most importance to me.

Wow good thing Sony is the only company that invests in niche exculsives.

You can't say you're talking about the "big picture" and then focus on the first few months of a console's life-cycle.

You mean like Uncharted 4 and Gran Turismo 7, the next big budget games for GG ? multi community like LBP ?
