I would've just contacted amazon or rented one from some local store and swapped the discs.

Reminds me of my situation today.

I bought Infamous Second Son for £50 at release. Got the platinum the other day. Went to trade today and got £35 back. Ended up buying Ground Zeroes for £27.99 and they gave me a £7.01 credit note.

Essentially, Ive exploited them and payed a combined £43 for Second Son and Ground Zeroes, brand new.

I feel dirty.

If you sold and bought it in the same store they could figure it out. Might be the store doesnt want to deal with the hassle since its a small loss though.

Dont feel to bad, I played The Last of Us for free. Payed $99 day one (fucking absurd price) beat it over the weekend and on Monday returned it for a full refund =D

Why wouldn't you just return it to Nintendo? It would have saved you money, more game trading, and screwing someone else over. I vote dick move but meh it isn't like it is that big of a deal. I don't do stuff like that because I would feel terrible if a child bought or received it all excited, and it ruined their day as I am getting old...LOL

You should have went to Walmart without the receipt and walked to the return counter saying it didn't work. They would have given you a replacement.

I once bought Dead Rising 2 from Gamestop, came home to play it, and saw there was no disk in the box. I went back to Gamestop and asked for another copy, but they were all sold out. So they let me get another $60 game as a replacement. When I came home to play my new game, I realized that the Dead Rising 2 disk was in my PS3 the whole time, I must have put it in there and forgot about it. I ended up keeping both games.

EDIT: Well, I guess they should've tested the game when taking it in, so it's their mistake if they find out later. Though you should've used Nintendo's offer.

I once bought a pre-owned game. It had a tiny scratch on it but I asked them that if it doesnt work can I return it. They said yes.
The game ended up working, so I played it for a few months, but eventually I wanted to trade it in (not return)
Took it to the store and they said they dont buy scratched games...

Thats BS, if they sold it to me then clearly they are buying them, so why not from me?

Since that day, I have no respect left for them, so if I ever have any scratched disks, I just take em on a busy saturday afternoon when they dont have time and they accept them anyway.
I'm not screwing over other customers because if they dont want it they can always return it.

I know its not like the case the OP mentioned, but the point is that they use stupid policies and are not reasonable with customers so theres no need to be reasonable with them.
