Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is remastering a 1 year old overkill??

I'd say the remaster is more aimed at the likes for me who have PS4 and never played the game on PS3 and are looking for some shiny stuff to play on the PS4.

Why didn't I get the PS3 version? Just never got around to it due to existing PS3 backlog and by the time it had been reduced, didn't see the point in getting a PS3 game, whereas I'll definitely buy the PS4 ver, probably day 1. 60fps is also big selling point for me. 1080p doesn't fuss me, buy 60fps will make for a much better experience than the PS3 version could have done.

There are also a lot of PS4 owners out there who never had a PS3 and so no access to the game originally.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

absolutely overkill for a game like tlou and tr those are one and done games very little replay value with story driven games like that now if gta5 was announced id have a different opinion

i think you should have a minimum 5yr gap between remasters for SP linear games like that and it should be a real remaster like RE1 on the GC this stuff we've seen with tlous tr mgs gow ect is a cash in and a waste of time for gamers who already played the game prior

I certainly wouldn't buy it again, but it gives other people the opportunity to, especially if they didn't own a PS3. I don't really see the issue here..

Current gaming platforms - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, New 3DS, PC

It's a damn good game and deserves to be on PS4. Many fans were asking for it before it even released on ps3. And we got what we wanted. I for one will double dip and pretty much everyone I know, I having a feeling people are going to be surprised by the sales. Which in all honesty this game should have been well over the 10 million mark. As it's one of the few games in our lifetime that will be considered masterpieces. It one of the greats right up there with FF7 and Legend of legend of zelda ocarina of time.

Not with THAT hype train OP.

Imagine if Nintendo of MS did this and you get the idea.
It is just a quick cash in for Sony nothing more, nothing less.

It would be praise-worthy for fans of that company and spoken of negatively in some way by opposing fans? Kind of like your post then, right?

feel free to point out where I spoke negatively about it.

Thank you.

Hmmm. A known Xbox fan talking about what the reactions would be if this were anyone other than Sony. A tactic used by salty fans of another platform to demonize the other fans as hypocrites for being excited about good news for their platform thus bringing negativity to the thread.

You're welcome

so you failed to point it out. Got it!
I said before that I liked TLoU on PS3 btw.

Saying you liked a game does not mean you're not trying to bring negativity into a thread about it. I loved Halo 2 but if a thread popped up about Microsoft going too far by bringing back Halo 2 as an HD remake and I jumped in to say "but but but if Sony did it then you guys would..." then it doesn't matter how much I like the game. I'm still acting salty and bringing negativity to the thread by basically calling Microsoft fans hypocrites just because I'm being immature.

I pointed out where you were bringing negativity into the thread for no good reason. Unless you can come up with a good explanation for what Nintendo and Microsoft have to do with Sony potentially overdoing it with bringing The Last of Us to PS4 then you're pretty much doing exactly what I pointed out. You're really not fooling anyone. Your mentality on this forum is very well known and you have been banned a number of times for it.

So if someone says that this is a business move for a quick cash in, eventhough he likes the game, he is a troll / hater / fanboy?!
You are really sensitive about this, aren't you?

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

It worked for Tomb Raider. And honestly, it's no different than having a last gen port coinciding with a current gen version of a game (e.g. Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, etc.)

I think the same. It's very similar to a multi-generation game like MGS or Titanfall. Also the game is graphically good enough to look better in 1080p@60fps than most next gen games.

Quick cash in? Have you seen the demand for a PS4 port of TLOU on the internet? People wanted this, and Naughty Dog is giving it to us.

Heck, I wouldn't mind some MS exclusives getting remastered for the Xbox One...Give me Halo 4/Gears 3 on X1 to make the wait for Halo 5 and Gears 4 feel shorter.

I guess they're doing that with Halo and the Halo 2 port, but you get my point.

Remastered!!!

I predicted that this would happen and am not really surprised. Nor do I have a problem with it - it makes a lot of sense financially. Because TLOU released so close to the launch of a new console, they didnt (and wont) get as many sales as they could have, what with people ignoring the game in favour of the ps4 etc. So it just makes sense to bring the game to the ps4 to allow those same gamers to experience the game. It will cost much less and as there isnt a huge amount of exclusives right now, it will get reasonable sales.
