Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Smash Bros: 3DS Summer; Wii U Winter

I had a feeling SSB was coming July/August... for Wii U, not 3DS.
So, the recent job offering by namco was right. there`s a version coming out in 2015 (winter is not the same as holidays).

One thing`s for sure: something else is the big wii u holiday title.

Now i want to see how iwata is going to keep the wii u momentum in the west after mk 8.

January-February release?

Gosh, this is like the promise that never ends delivering.

He won't, that's the problem. He'll stick his fingers in his ears and yell "lalalalalalalala" pretending there isn't a problem while sales grind to a halt, because he's an incompetent moron.

As I said in another thread, this is a genius move by Nintendo to sell more software. Most wii U owners were not planning on getting both (me included). Now they are pretty much forcing wii U owners to pick up the 3ds version and additionally pick up the Wii U version later for the definitive version. Smart move by Nintendo to prevent cannibilization of sales and split one relesae into two major releases in the same year.

Or maybe people will invest their money on 3DS version and never get the Wii U version.

It'll give me time to save up money for both versions. :P

Ima slap whoever gets the 3DS version. Why no adventure mode for Wii U? What the hell Sakurai? Nah, can't say that. The dude is a great game creator but... still. So much for getting my hopes up. And watch the next Nintendo Direct announce 30 newcomers because I joaned on this one so bad.

I guess this puts the last rumours of a big Zelda release for Wii U this holiday to rest...

Other than that, yeah I can see this maybe hurting the sales of the Wii U version, game looks pretty great though.

In fact i like the idea. After today i am really thinking about buying both, they feel like two distinct experiences

I dunno, I think they're playing clever. I think they've held back on announcing the extra feature for Wii U for a good reason, and I think that reason might be tied in with the fact that he teased interactivity between Wii U and 3DS, but wouldn't elaborate on it until 'a later date'. I think that they want as many people as possible to buy the 3DS version, and whatever they have up their sleeve will make the Wii U version a must-have for the 3DS version owners.

^^^ This is probably the case.
