I see they have a new trailer for the movie out.

I was so worried they would mess this up, like they did with that wretched 1998 Tristar abortion.

But so far it looks -miraculously- like they're doing everything RIGHT this time.

I have NEVER anticipated a movie as much as I do this one; the next 2 will be agony... XD

This Thread is redundant.

I already posted it on the 3D Movies of 2014 Thread on the 5th OP, like a week ago:

It is not redundant. This thread is specifically for Godzilla, not every 3D movie under the sun.

I am so hesistant to let myself believe this will be anything but shit.

But the trailer looks so. damn. good.

After the last Godzilla movies, I can understand being apprehensive. This one seems like it's stepping in the right direction at least. That being said, I actually liked the Godzilla 98 soundtrack but that's about it.

The Japanese Godzilla movies from 2001-2003 weren't bad. I'd actually say 2001's Godzilla x Mothra x King Ghidorah was downright awesome. The last one, Final Wars in 2004, was a disappointment though.

And yeah, G98's decent music was the only thing I found palatable in that trainwreck.

I really want this movie to be good, but the previous Godzilla and pacific rim have me setting my expectations very low.

I'm mainly referring to western attempts at Godzilla. I haven't seen those Godzillas but I should check them out.

Just keep in mind, Japanese cinema operates with a fraction the budget of Hollywood, so even the Japanese Godzilla films made after the 90s Tristar one still use a rubber suit, haha.

They may operate with a fraction of the budget, but they still seem to spend a thousand times more on script writers judging by the outcomes or perhaps they just have more imagination. Regardless of the less than spectacular effects they are all still more enjoyable than the crap hollywood has churned out.

For the most part I agree; many of my favourite films are Japanese; Gamera 3, Death Note, Crossfire, Princess Mononoke...
