Pokemon X and Y Sales Pass 12 Million Mark

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y have collectively sold over 12 million copies on 3DS, it's been announced.

When taken together, this means the latest Pokemon adventure is the fastest-selling title on Nintendo's handheld.

Upon its release back in 2013, the game managed to shift 4 million copies in under two days. This easily made it the fastest-selling 3DS title in history, though this can in part be attributed to the fact it had a simultaneous global release.

To give you some reference, Nintendo previously revealed lifetime sales for other entries in the franchise. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are the best performers, having sold 17.63 million units worldwide, following by Ruby and Sapphire with 16.22 million units, Black and White with 15.42 millions units, HeartGold and SoulSilver with 12.67 million units and FireRed and LeafGreen with 12 million units.

This is great! X and Y deserve all the sales they get. I might even pick up a 3DS to get Y soon.

12 million including digital? doesnt seem as much to be honest compare to other pokemon main series game.... can it sell 3 more million before the end of the year? to make it 15 even?

Awesome! Love pokemon and would consider XY to be a welcome change to the franchise that i was afraid of for years.

Does this include digital btw?

Its an unfair comparison! (Pokemon FireRed/Leafgreen are remakes and challenge sales of the mainstream games now o.O)

Its kinda funny though, I said the same while reading that

I estimate around D/P numbers (17.500.000) lifetime. Maybe more if the 3DS gains more momentum, for example when / if Pokémon Z is released, many newcomers may end up getting X or Y since it will be cheaper than Z by then, and so on.

Hell YES!!!! Pokemon X and Y deserved every bit of it, specially with the new graphics

X and Y were amazing, a much needed improvement from Black and White. I hope they remake Sapphire and Ruby in the same template :D

I Almost certain its shipped+digital. Last time it was 11.61mil (dec 31st). If these figures dont include digital then O.o! Im guessing now XY sold 11.5mil-11.7mil (including digital). 

I guess GB and GBC entries don't count (pre-smartphones )

Awesome sales, insane series lifetime sales. The last few IMO weren't worth it, but X & Y finally shook things up.
