Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is it safe to buy Xenoblade on Gamestop?

It's a weird situation with Xenobade. Basically, it was ONLY sold through Gamestop in the US. Then, after the game became a hot collectors item, Gamestop magically found tons of copies and started selling them at 90 bucks a pop (50 US was the actual price). Gamestop said that was because the game was so rare. However, there is a lot of speculation that these games were actually new copies.

Long story short though, Gamestop is probably fucking you over a bit, but the game will most likely work. And, Xenoblade is a fantastic game well worth buying.

What do you mean "is it safe?" Are you asking will it work? I got mine from gamestop and it works perfectly fine. Also looks brand new pretty much. Got it for $40 on black friday, such a steal.

Video Games Plus has copies available to order online, factory sealed for 70 dollars https://www.videogamesplus.ca/product_info.php?products_id=19956

Gamestop probably held back some copies so they could increase the price later or perhaps put a second order into Nintendo for a small batch with increased costs. Hats off to Gamestop for their wise profiteering staff.

This is really why single retailer exclusive games shouldn't happen. It's basically a monopoly without competition. I'm sure there were many independent video game stores who would have loved to have sold this game. In fact increased availability would have resulted surely in more games being sold.

Xenoblade is an incredibly impressive wii game but I must admit I got a bit bored of it quickly as didn't like the combat system and found the story a bit irritating. UK price on amazon starts at about £35 pre-owned delivered.

osed, I just drove around to two GameStops in my area. One store had one copy of Xenoblade, the other store had two copies. All had boxes, box art, and manual. One even had a Club Nintendo code.

So I think it's probably safe to say those locations in Houston have a few copies among them.

Good luck!

That's awesome man! That makes me feel better.

Thanks a lot

Gamestop sometimes labels rare games like Xenoblade and Metroid Prime Trilogy as Used when they are pretty much new. I bought MP:T "used" from them and it came in perfect, never been touched condition. There is a tiny chance that something will be wrong with it but like I said, its a pretty tiny chance.

You should be fine. GameStop can be a scum of a company, but I doubt they'll screw you over here. I've seen Xenoblade at retail and it appeared alright by the looks of it.

I would just recommend that you tell your sister to ask to look at the contents of the box.

All used copies at Gamestop are brand new reprints with case and manual. They open them to sell as used for inflated eBay prices.

should be fine i actually got my copy of xenoblade from a gamestop in the houston area during the christmas of 2012 while n vacation with my family
