Hah, and that counts for something... in my mind anyway.

I'm telling you, for his size, Hogan was actually a great technical wrestler, he just never got to show it off in the US.

He pulls off some neat holds and moves for his size in his Japanese Matches

The matches realy mess with you.

I'm freaking out, bro!  It's like everything I've been raised to believe is wrong.

What the heck!?  I don't understand why the never made him do those moves in addition to the leg drop, body slam, big boot, and punch.

If you really want to freak out, watch Andre get treated like a bitch (warning: filmed with a potato).

I know right?  The matches with Inoki are the best.

Hogan's Japanese matches are prety great.

They do the same thing to John Cena, but ot a lesser degree.  (I don't think he's as good a wrestler as hogan, and they're letting him stretch his legs a bit more lately.)

I got The Rock. I don't think there's a wrestler who's more recognizable throughout the world than him.

Actually, while that is probably true, I'm sure there are a lot of people who recognise him from his films but aren't aware that he is a wrestler.

Because of that, I'll say Hulk Hogan.

I'm not even sure it is true to be honest.  Hulk Hogan is like the Superman of Wrestlers.

Ask your Aunt Mildred to name a wrestler and She's saying the Hulkster.

Ask her to name an action star... and you won't get the Rock.

I mean, to give an idea of the power of the Hulkster

http://www.intermediaentertainment.com/dr-star-index-celebrity-power-ranking/

Conversely, Hulk Hogan ranks No. 1 in the Recognition category with a level of almost 98, but only achieves 70th place in the overall rankings due to lower scores on trustworthiness, attractiveness, and ability to influence purchase behavior. Justin Bieber scores highly in Recognition (more than 96 percent), but near the bottom of the Influence category, likely due to his recent partying and other shenanigans. Similarly, Donald Trump and Mike Tyson scored high in Recognition (97.59 percent and 92.17 percent, respectively), but low in Trust and Influence, and as a result, did not make it into the top 100. Clearly, simply being well-known is not sufficient for being an effective spokesperson.

Hulk is more well known then Biebs!

The the Rock and Hulk Hogan are the most recognizable names in the world, period. In their respective generations they ruled the ring and the box office simultaneously.

Might as well ask who is the most iconic soap opera actor. However, the answer is Hulk Hogan.

Without a question it's Hulk Hogan, but there are many wwe superstars than deserve a mention

Smackdown basically made thanks to The Rock(well named after him)
Stone Cold Steve Austin
Undertaker and the streak(dammit to all the people her could've lost to it was Brock Lesnar!?)
Shawn Michael
John Cena: He's basically the "Hulk Hogan" of this generation

Clearly it's Hogan. Recognition wise, I'd say the Rock and Austin are pretty equal. The Rock was certainly more quotable and was overall a better wrestler, but Austin had the stunner which is probably the most well known special move outside of Bret Hart's Sharpshooter.

Most of my experience comes from the pre-attitude era. Probably one of the last matches I watched was Bret Hart vs Bob Backlund, the sharpshooter vs the cross-face chicken-wing, in which Owen Hart convinced their parents sitting ringside to throw in the towel.

The wrestlers that stood out in that time were Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Razor Ramone, Lex Luger, Undertaker, Yokozuna, Million Dollar Man, 1-2-3 Kid, Tatanka. It was a pretty awesome era.
Some of my favorite moments were when hbk delivered a nice kick to the chin, or when razor ramone set up for his razor's edge. I fucking loved that move. I remember lex body-slamming yokozuna at summer slam, and also undertaker vs yoko in a "coffin match" was pretty epic.
I'm not sure what happened to make me drop off it. I think it changed to cable or something or just hit a really low point for a while.

I think the tope 5 are.

1.Hulk Hogan, w/o a doubt THE face of wrestling (but far from being my favorite)
2. The Rock
3. Steve Austin
4. Undertaker
5. Triple H

Also, how come people question Hogan's wrestling skills... but then hold up Austin up near the top?

Maybe i'm remembering wrong, but I remember Austin being one of the weakest wrestlers ever technically.

Nothing but punches stomps and the stunner.

Though I don't remember any of his "Stunning" Steve Austin days.
