Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Plex Coming to Xbox One “SOON” – Time to Make Things Organized

Didn't it work on the Xbone's browser?

I don't even have an Xbox One to answer this question but what does this have to do with the topic? You think you only get apps/programs if you can't access it with a browser? You should tell them that since they are so crazy and give you a download on PC even if you can use your browser. Same with Spotify and so on...

I would almost bet that it doesn't work on Xbox Ones browser and that this is the reason why you "asked" even if you already know the answer. Why else would you post in an Xbox One thread right?

You can use your browser to watch/streaming your library... not share your library... you need the app on PC.

I'm just asking a fair question if there is not way to use Plex on Xbone? The app can make the things easy and fast but I want to know if you can use Plex on Xbone right now? I believe you can... I even say to a friend that he can months ago.

But nobody answer a simples question... just jump with arrogance over who mades the question lol

I'm out from here... have a nice day.

PS. I don't have a Xbone... so there is no way to me know if it works... it works on PS4 and Wii U BTW.

It works.

But I'd rather have an app than mess about in a browser on a console.

Or don't we want media apps now?  I'm sure it will be cool again with you when the app is launched on the other notable consoles.

Thanks... I agree app is easy and fast.

I just got Plex. Its an application that must be downloaded and installed to your PC. Then when you launch the program it uses your Web Browser. Its actually really cool.

It is... I found it because it works on Linux... most apps only works on Windows.

Is Plex better or worse than XBMC?

Plex is based on XBMC, just the mobile apps didn't use the XBMC code.

You can think like that...

Plex: easy but limited.
XBMC: hard but almost infinitely customizable.

If you like XBMC you won't like Plex I guess...

Another advantage of the Plex is that it has app on iOS (XBMC only with Jailbreaker) and Windows Phone.

The best media playing console of the new gen just pulled further away from the others.

The gap is actually pretty huge now as the other two are basically incapable of anything much.

Good thing they are so focused on games now...

Microsoft?  They sure are.  So coupled with it being the best media machine then its a win win.

Excellent.

LOL

Yeah XBMC trumps it imo but like someone said it might be easier for less technical people that don't need the depth of XBMC

personally I wish they integrate that kind if functionality for cloud storage like one drive drop box etc instead of needing extra software...

in the future I guess...

Good news - hope it will come along to the PS4 too at some point. Still so surprised with both consoles lack of DLNA.

You can use Plex on PS4 since release... I think you can use on Xbone too but nobody answered me... you can use even on Wii U .

Apps are almost always superior to anything browser-based in consoles.

Pretty sure Plex devs applied for an XboxID and got it?  This isn't MS-internal development.
