Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Mario Kart 8 looks fantastic! Now market the f#¢k out of it!

Second guessing...well, that's quite a stretch right there. MK8 looks fantastic (and is a must buy in my book), but sorry, that has nothing to do with how much juice WiiU has, but rather with remarkable art style.

To some people graphics often equate to system power. A lot of people were shocked at how gorgeous this game looks. Hence, why people are second guessing.

"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primitive, primal, as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating, I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character of a child."

Do people still play local multiplayer for 4 players? That is where Mario Kart shines, but that is also where Super Mario 3D World shined (even more in my opinion).

If that didn't sell the $300 WiiU then I don't think Mario Kart will either.

I have a family of 5 so we definitely get down on some local co-op. I'm really hoping that they add a 5 player option using the Gamepad as the 5th screen. As popular as 3d Mario games are they don't draw the casual crowd no where near as well as Mario Kart does. The game is going to appeal to a much broader audience. Plus, Mario Kart 8 is going to have an improved online infrastructure so it can be marketed beyond local co-op.

Why is the reaction so positive?

It's a highly anticipated game that is exceeding peoples expectations. Have you checked out the new footage they've recently released? Got me excited!

Can you perform wheelies like in MKWii?

they promoted the game at SXSW with a real go Kart track. it was pretty cool I saw a video for it online but I didn't see any media sites (like IGN) pick it up at all.

This is probably because the actual game itself wasn't there, though they still coulda done it since it is a game related thing. Ahwells.

I don't think so, no. Also they drift like karts now, do the bikes.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

It looks like Mario Kart. I own every game in the series, and it looks right where you'd expect from Nintendo quality + generational advance.

What is the selling point compared to MKWii or MK7, exactly?

Nope, it's only an animation for when you get a boost.
