Nope, we'd have to know exactly how much MK8 would have sold if Watch Dogs didn't exist, which is impossible. Otherwise we could always just say MK8 woulda sold better if not for Watchdogs and vice versa, no matter what the numbers are.

This is NOT about which game is selling better. This is about watch dogs affecting MK8's ability to selling the WII U ... Assuming that MK8 is about the same quality as MK DD the gamecube has being able to sell 750K according to 2003 November NPD numbers. Games recently have also become more front loaded so there's further no reason why the WII U won't be able to pull off atleast 400K in that given week that MK8 releases. The only thing that would affect it's system selling capabilities would be it's other competitor which is watch dogs.

Watch Dogs will affect Mario Kart about as much as GTA V affected Pokemon X/Y.

Or maybe its because they can't win the bet and know it.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

I know what it's about, and what I said still applys! We don't know for a fact how many Wii Us Mario Kart 8 would sell if Watchdogs didn't exist, therefore we have no way of knowing for a fact if Watchdogs will of had any impact on MK8, regardless of what the numbers are, be it good or bad. We can only make assumptions.

Wow, we are so off topic! xD

I'm glad you agree. Because this has been said before in the thread:

This thread isnt the place to discuss PS3, Xbox 360 or Final Fantasy XV.

Cut it out.

And again...

A quick reminder. You've all been warned before so there's really no excuse to continue needless off-topic discussion.

To put it simply; Get back on topic, or you'll be moderated as well.

So...I think it's pretty obvious that any off-topic discussion would be frowned upon. And yet, off topic discussion continued. 1080p and Watch_Dogs have nothing to do with advertising Mario Kart, last time I checked.

It's a shame, really.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Actually a connection can be made! You see they've already started advertising Watchdogs as this very site proved, whereas there's been nothing for Mario Kart 8 yet. So with that, it's likely Nintendo wont do anything special for the game. That right there is a real shame!

Maybe I must go back sleeping some more, because I totally fail to see what Watchdogs have to do with Mario Kart.
If MK will fail, Ninty and only Ninty will have to be blamed. Moreover, Wii U won't be saved by a single game or two games, but by its whole game library reaching a still unknown critical mass, with the crucial help of marketing.

I'm not going to knock Watchdogs but its a new game with some hype but we have no idea of the review scores. It's not a game that appeals to me that much but I'm still curious about it technically to see how well the ps4 and xbone pull it off. I don't like sandbox games with a third person perspective and the hacking part of the game doesn't look that interesting to me.

However I understand if the gaming press is split between coverage of mario kart and watchdogs then both will suffer a bit. As said previously I think mariokart is far more important for christmas sales than launch sales. It needs to be bundled with the console perhaps with another major game and the console price needs to be cut to get wii u's into people's homes. Nintendo need to stop trying to sell underpowered hardware at high prices. The wii u is not competing with ps4 and xbone its competing with ps3 and 360 the hardware that is a similar power to wii u. Yes Mariokart looks nice but it doesn't wipe out the fact the vast majority of games that are available on wii u, 360 and ps3 perform to a higher standard on 360 and ps3 most of the time.

The wii u vs 360/PS3 is like the super nintendo vs the megadrive. Yes the super nintendo had better graphics but it had a much weaker cpu too.

Mariokart is the first wii u game that can really push wii u hardware sales I believe. It still needs very careful marketing by Nintendo to maximise sales. Something more recently they don't seem that good at though.

Bring MK8 to PS4 w/ track editor and I'll get it day 1.

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

Right, you all had your chances. This has been off topic for the majority of the time its been open and countless reports seem to be flowing in, for whatever reason. No worthwhile discussion.
