Forums - Gaming Discussion - Be true to yourself... Name a popular game that you just don't like!

The elder scrolls: Really vanilla story and boring settings.

GTA: I just don't get a kick out of it. There are so much more interesting open world game out (mechanics and story wise)

Assassin's Creed: Also not a fan of the mythos/story/plot.

Batman Arkham franchise: I hate batman, probably the worst superhero/antihero out there.

Not that I hate, I actually played them in a determined moment. Pokemon and World of Warcraft, I really don't understand the huge amount of money these licences have made.

The game I really disliked, and many loved --- The Last of Us!

I found it very monotonous and simplistic.

I have no gripe about the technical aspects, it's just that the gameplay felt very basic, I really disliked the crafting and upgrade system, the repetitiveness of the levels and numerous other minor or major flaws.

It seems to me that every aspect of the game was handled better in many other games. By about 8th hour I was bored to tears, another room, another drawer full of gears, another ladder or plank to move three feet to the right...

Did you like turn off the TV during cutscenes or mute the parts when they talk during gameplay. Maybe read some of the collectibles or do the optional talks with ellie?

I mean, if you just went from Point A to Point B with complete disregard for the story/characters or exploration, then I can see why you would dislike it.

I swear, there are many games that don't deserve the praise they get! They were/are just a novelty, and there are way better games than it! And people love it, even if they know there's a better game than it... They're not true to themselves. But we, Vgcharterz, we  are equally dumb are different! We can name an overrated game and say "I hate it!" and the others will say "It's fine."

I hate Ocarina of Time...

I'm surprised more people haven't yelled at you for the bolded. That being said, I agree to an extent. I think it's an enjoyable game that was probably great for its time, but had it released this year i think it would have had pretty mediocre reception. WW/TP are just better games IMO.

OT: the most recent one I can think of is The Witcher 2. It's a fairly pretty game and uhh...well...idk. There isn't much beyond that. The combat is okay but fairly repetitive, it's pretty buggy in my experience, some of the checkpoints are pretty bad and it restricts your ability to save a lot of the time, the story is just decent, a lot of the difficulty is due to cheapness rather than actual challenge, etc. Conceptually I think the game is great, it's just some of the execution where it falls apart. Of course, I'm not done with the game so my analysis isn't perfect, but I don't think any of these things will just randomly improve.

That being said, Witcher 3 looks pretty good so I might give it a shot.

I say this ever thread like this, and I'll still go with the same series........ Uncharted.

umm I've never played through a complete uncharted game... and the only i played, while didn 't impress me, wasn't the worst by far game i've played...

dunno bout personal opinion and there was nothing wrong with the game, but yeah personally I didn't really care for it..

Genres like FPS and certain types of MMOs.

I dont like most COD's, World of Warcraft, nor Diablo's...

The Fallout series and the Elder Scrolls series. Just about anything Bethesda developed -.-

Assassin's Creed (Black Flag was pretty good but the combat sucked ass)
Gears of War
Mario (Every entry)
Grand Theft Auto 4
Socom 4
Pokemon (Every entry)
Resistance 1 & 2
Fallout

I would include Skyrim and Mass Effect but i've only played a few hours on both.

Super Metroid. Beat it without much feeling of accomplishment. The combat is extremely dull, upgrades don't feel like enough incentive when the game is pretty damn easy even with just base Samus, and no memorable bosses. Music was kickass though. Seems like only a good game if you want to see how fast you can beat it, but that's boring to me.

Now this is something I wasn't expecting, but I have to disagree completely on the bosses!

Seconded, some of those boss fights are the most memorable from any game I've played, particularly Mother Brain.
