This was supposed to be X1's massive killer app.
They paid a HUGE amount of money for it. They've done a lot of marketing for it. MS based a lot of their E3 and X1 promotions around Titanfall. It's been their centerpiece and promoted as the game to buy an Xbox One for.
It had good first week sales, but it didnt set the world on fire.
InFamous:SS sold pretty much the same amount. InFamous sold 700k in 2 days, Titanfall sold 900k in 4 days on X1.
MGS:GZ sold 400k+ first week, and its not even a full game. MGS+InFamous > Titanfall. and that's not even half of what Sony has up their sleeve.
Titanfailed to serve it's purpose. A couple weeks after release and Titanfall's just an afterthought now. People arent running out to buy X1's. PS4 still killed X1 in sales this week 220k vs. 120k, and even beat X1 in North America.
EA has to be hugely disappointed as well. Theyve tried so hard for years to compete with COD.... finally they get a game that can realistically compete with COD and they blew it by going exclusive to Xbox. They couldve sold more than double if they had it on PS4 as well.
“Sony also used it’s own metrics in a meeting with EA last week and showed them what they would have sold on the ps3 and ps4. The money EA took from MS doesn’t even begin to cover it. The EA guys went over the math and agreed. EA is in full ‘We’re so f**king sorry, Sony’ mode currently.”
