As a (fourth year... one more year left) senior in college, from watching the new waves of freshmen come in year after year, people have been getting systematically worse. Now don't get me wrong, my class was bad with well over half getting kicked out for some reason or another... but a least, in comparison to this years class, they didn't play off of eachothers' thoughts and screw each other over for the simple sake of entertainment... And eh, I'm a humanistic atheist... and religion won't solve this problem because religion teaches segregation by shunning those who do certain things and juvee won't solve this problem because, both in and out, they'll be treated as subhuman as our society has forgotten what a second chance is and how to forgive.

Heinuos acts like this should never be given a second chance. Punishment may not make things better but it will temporarily freeze the offender from doing any sort of harm or it can eliminate it entirely if the crime at hand calls for it.

If you assume that there is no possibility for rehabiliation of the individual and that all understanding of  the circumstances of their mindset, at the time, are null and void, then everything from summary executions to Roman style gladatorial games are justifiable under your reasoning.

Kids these days don't have the slightest damn of dignity.

They never did.

Over %50 of the crimes are caused by repeat offenders ...

His attacker was unarmed. I don't see the big deal.

Is this comment meant to be ironic?

50% is still well above zero and yes, there are some who are never going to give up. However, if there are some who are willing to reform, they should be allowed to and they should be given a second chance. Furthermore, the venues of reformation should be based on the aspects that worked the most for them and it should be done in a way that addressed the core problems behind repeat offenders, which is most often poverty and psychological issues that go unaddressed because of limited access.

I'm not saying that first offenders shouldn't be given a chance ... Rehabilitation should always be a consideration to them but there are others who won't stop.

as a ex- bully i must say,,, im disgusted, i never went that far, it was fun and only feelings got really hurt. this is plain assault. should be accounted for it...

Yes. Some people are under the impression that not having a weapon means you can't endanger someone's life and limb.

Yeah, that was my impression. The by-standers weren't as animalistic as the story makes it sound. They just acted like typical gormless teenagers.

It's hard to tell because it's not like his nose was literally ripped off. It was just kind of floating around underneath the skin. But I think it was the second punch that did it.

The news make it look more brutal than it was. Reading the article I actually tough he was savagely beaten in the ground while people cheared like crazy seeing him being destroyed by the other guy. In reality, he took two punches. The second one was a "lucky" punch that missed the majority of the face and got the nose right in the side, broking and moving it out of place. Not even as brutal as the news report it, but the agressor was way stronger and the punches connected in a bad way. As the by-standers, they didn't knew the guy was that hurt. When I see someone taking two punches, I won't usually imagine he will have more than a black eye, let alone needs major facial surgery.

Anyway, the guy caused major damage (even if he didn't intended to hurt him so bad, something we don't know) and will have to pay for what he does and the victim's family will probably sue the school and pursue worse (and well deserved) criminal charges against the aggressor.

Well its time to sue, is familly, and all the one who cheered. DEstroy them with financial insecurity, its the only thing they'll understand.

Or inspire further hate and violence.

And then get sued all over again.

See it a win win situation Its the circle of win.
