Forums - Gaming Discussion - Will Capcom be able to retain relevancy in this gen?

Do they even have enough money to make these games? I heard their financials were in the gutter.

Lol, my thoughts exactly.

They just need to go back to what made them Capcom in the first place and put out quality games.

Well hopefully they continue to loose money and their stock falls so one of the big 3 can buy them. A slumping Japanese company with many well known industry IP's would be VERY helpful to a certain company

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

For the short term, they can live off of Monster Hunter, especially since Monster Hunter 5 would sell millions even as a 3DS game recycling decade old assets. In the long term... their best bet at this point may be renting out their series to other companies. Or perhaps getting paid for high quality exclusives, like is rumored to have happened with Monster Hunter 4, Deep Down, Dead Rising 3, etc. They certainly can't afford to make their staple AAA games otherwise.

Love and tolerate.

It's not looking good. They're down to Monster Hunter (big in Japan, not so much elsewhere) and Resident Evil, which is on shaky ground after the poor reception to RE6. If their big bet on mobile doesn't pan out, things could go south very quickly for them.

They need to realize the term AAA is just a marketing term. They need to just put their games at a realistic budget, and expect realistic sales. Anything at 1million units not being profitable is stupid.

Capcom use to be one of my favorite game companies! Breath of fire, resident evil, onimusha, street fighter... These were all great franchises once! Now they are either dead or just a shadow of their former glory... Lets just say i dont have high hopes for capcom, but hope isnt gone all together...

One gane can turn it all around: Dragon's Dogma 2.

And I'm not just saying this because I want another one and I'm trying to trick you into making it before you go out of business, Capcom. I really mean it.

They'll die of a painful death ...

They can if they play their cards right. Resident Evil 7, Street Fighter V and Dragon's Dogma 2 all need to be of the highest quality. They need to give Mega Man a proper revival. Devil May Cry 5 needs to have the old Dante. MS might be willing to fund another Dead Rising in the future after the success of 3 as well.
