Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4 has always online DRM after all.

Thats for digital games, if I delete the account that owns the digital games other users can't use them.

The Irony? If not April Fools... Le sigh, its hard to tell which articles are legit and which are not :/

It's legit, but it's 100% like how it is on 360 and XBONE. This isn't new info guys...

Well, according to the site its different on the 360 and X1? Idk, I am a bit confused...

"Certainly on both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One others can jump on their own profiles and get playing my games stored on the consoles. I can also play the digitally downloaded games offline regardless of time period.

So there we go –

  • The Xbox has no DRM (and alas, no game sharing)
  • PS4 has no DRM on discs – but it has very strict DRM on downloaded titles"

This issue only affects those game sharing on ps4 though so... your point is moot?

Tip for people: Don't try and talk about stuff if you have no idea what you're talking about. You would think websites would actually check this stuff.

So, there is always-online DRM for digital downloads on PS4 but not for disc-based games? If this is true that's pretty bad PR for Sony after what they pulled at E3. Wouldn't really surprise me, not the first time that Sony has expressed interest in DRM, they even held a patent for disc-based DRM at one point.

MS could get revenge at the upcoming E3......

Yeah, probably not.

Reported thread as nothing short of false information posted for flamebait.

"A video is circulating which displays a PS4 user irritated that his games could not be played without an internet connection. He attempts to play Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Sound Shapes, and Flower…

Each of the titles refuse to launch, instead displaying a message stating: “Cannot start the application. The PS4 is not connected to the internet and cannot verify the license for the application”

No. It doesn't. Btw.

Is this your video? :)

I just watched this video, and out of curiosity went and disabled my Internet connections in the settings menu. I then went and launched Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, Flower, and pretty much all of my digital download games (and disc-based games) and they all launched, just fine. This guy either is playing on someone else's account and doesn't have the digital items activated, or he's playing on someone else's account. This is an April Fool's joke. :)
