Congratulations on your build, I'm sure it will give you many, many hours of great gaming.

Sorry about your damaged 8350. I remember when I build my first PC that the guy at the store where I bought my mobo and CPU told me that they could put the CPU on the socket for me. I actually thought about it for a sec, but I said no. I was like "If I'm building my PC, I'm building it, not anyone else. Even if that meant damaging something." Luckily everything went fine.

But I have to make it note. You went with the RED team (AMD) and choosed a RED case... and then you went with a blue motherboard?! Silly you, you should have gone with a Red/Black ASUS' Republic of Gamers mobo and red RAM sticks (Kingston or G.Skill) to make the build match.

Yeah the color matchup was a mess. I'm rusty at these things and didn't know that there's all sorts of different colors and LEDs nowadays.

I just bought the case with the color I wanted and then put the parts I wanted without knowing anything about LED lighting.

I fought all mothaboards were blue nowadays. At least all the models I considered were blue, even the ASUS ones (M5A99FX PRO and Sabertooth).

Do you mean I could have gotten a set up with all red colors including the LED lighting?

When it comes to the mobo and RAM,

Mobo: Asus Crosshair V FORMULA

RAM (an example): G.Skill Ripjaws X

About the LEDs, there's nothing you can do about it without modding. You can de-solder the ones that come with the case and solder another LEDs of the colour you want (big balls if you go this route), or if that's too much for you, you can do other, less radical things like installing red cathodes (like this or this one) that you only have to connect to a Molex plug or use a LED strip of the colour you want (like this one), that uses one PCI slot.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Nice build! How do you like the R9 290? I was thinking of upgrading later this year over my 7970.

What's your 3Dmark scores? Think it would be fairly similar to my build of early last year about €200 less with intel/nvidia.

How can I run 3D Mark the benchmark? I just download? Are there different settings or a "standard" setting?

I doubt u could of gotten an Intel/Nvidia solution for 200 Euros less that is just as fast.

Just download the demo off steam and run it. It's about 1 GB. And I meant €200 more but it is a year and 3 months old at this stage now.

Great build! AMD CPU's are amazing for multicore gaming.

My only complaint is Windows 8.1 but you probably wouldn't use it...I'm glad Windows 7 Pro comes with DLNA support. It's funny Windows 7 and PS3 work nicely, and Windows 8.1 and PS4 have de-evolved in this regard.

I have just confirmed that the DLNA streaming feature is not supported in Windows 8.1.

I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Really nice build, the CPU may bottleneck the GPU though, just a warning.

Edit: The i5 is shown in benchmarks to be vastly superior to any AMD CPU when it comes to gaming. AMD CPUs are better for budget video or music decoding or editing, but i5 outpaces it in gaming.

That sounds too complicated for me!

It's lightning fast.

Honestly I haven't pressed it yet. But I love it, it felt so powerful (but is silent like a mouse). Normal modern games run on max. I'm excited to see how it will run Dragon Age Inquisition and other cross-gen and next gen games.

But I don't gain anything from having Win 7 over Win 8.1 do I? I just bought what seemed like the default option (my last OS was Win XP). So far I'm ignoring the Metro interface although it actually is pretty slick.

The CPU might bottleneck down the line when the HDD is filled with junk and all sorts of background programs the CPU has to keep track of, but in general there's only a 10% gain to get from a really fast CPU compared to the one I bought.

By the time my HDD is filled with junk I'm probably gonna upgrade to something new AMD (hopefully) has to offer.

Not really. Its probably best (for most people) who are buying new, to go Win 8.1. You get; faster boot times, more longer lasting support, plus DirectX 12.
