right, but we also know that they can't keep that damn thing in stock anywhere but japan.   close a fucking 'nought.   i really don't think they are going to give shipment numbers and then announced almost the same number a week later as sold to consumer.  they ware going to wait until the number goes up enough to make the news headlines look good.

besides...  shipment > sell though      ..so, like MS did at the end of 2013, the shippment number will make them look better than sellthough and obviously the news reporting guys don't have a clue what the difference is.

I'm guessing right around the time they have sold 7 million.

They announced every milestone until now...

1 million as of November 15, 2013
2.1 million as of December 1, 2013
4.2 million as of December 28, 2013
5.3 million as of February 8, 2014
6 million as of March 2, 2014

Well they missed the 3 million dammit.

But they have to stop some time, they can't make a big deal out of every million passed.  Those kind of things should be reserved for big milestones, like 10 million for instance.  I mean, if they really wanted to be cheeky, they could wait for MS to announce figures, which will inevitably be below theirs, and release their figures straight after to take the attention, like they did around the new year.  In fact, that will probably be what happens at E3 if Microsoft go first.

I think they will stop when they stop to sell less than 1 million per month... so they will start to announce 10m, 20m, etc.

MS won't release more figures except the shipments in financial quarters... eg. they can't announce 4 million now because it will look like they sold nothing after the 3.9m shipment.

E3 is in june.   ...so E3 will likely be the 10M announcement.  ;)

I did the math before quoting you. Unless the PS4 is massively undertracked it would need about 280k per week(including march 29) until E3. It's less than 12 weeks away.
