Forums - Movies & TV - Captain America: The Winter Soldier - Thoughts (SPOILERS)

So, the movie is out and I saw it yesterday in 'preview' screenings (really just released on Wednesday here in the UK). I avoid spoilers for movies I know I'm going to see, this includes trailers. So I knew nothing of this film, other than the name and the fact Cap was in it. (Keep in mind that this is the case for all other Marvel films, I know very little so future spoilers for future films other than basics).

So what are your thoughts on this film?

I adored it. I think it was easily the best Marvel film to date (going back to Blade), having certain characters appear, well written and well placed within the story. It was excellently paced and tone was great. What I think was really good though is, for me at least, it felt like the first comic book film made in the recent 'Avengers set' that could easily have been pulled straight from a comic, while I feel other Marvel films have taken source material and changed and chopped them to make them fit. Fury was more like 616 than Ultimate in characterisation, ruthless and untrusting. Appearences made my fanboy innerself smile.

I'll see it again and recommend it to anyone wanting to just watch a great movie.

Hmm, pie.

I'm not gonna read the OP but just let me know if it's good or not.
--I read the Winter Soldier storyline back when and I enjoyed that. Hopefully Cap doesn't die in this one and gets replaced by Bucky, though.

Yes, it is good.

Frecking awesome.. The action and tone is so different from other Marvel movies.. When Cap punches he really punches like you would expect from Cap.. The darker tone fitted in well.. and Black Window wasn't just eyecandy.. Great movie.. Much better then Iast few marvel movies

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Never planned on seeing it tbh but I am curious to see what the praise is all about. 98% on RT is crazy.

I liked Chris Evans, he was great as Cap, but I did't like the first movie at all, nor did I like Thor or The Avengers. Ironman was great, but the action was not so good, more so the characters and witty dialogue.

How does Cap 2 compare to this??? Is the action better or is this just a flick for die hard marvel nerds???

You should and please do see it, not just because it's the big hollywood movie but just to support Cap (who is far more heroic that Superman can dream of).

I actually originally thought Chris Evans as Cap didn't fit but he was the right name to sell the franchise. The first Cap movie was solid but not great, I feel all Iron Mans, both Thors, Avengers and even 2nd Hulk is better than it. That film was more for the Marvel geeks. (please not don't use the term nerd... :P).

Compared to the first, this movie is amazing, action is far superior because it's not all CG like argueably much of Thor probably was. Espionage and politics edge to the film is a nice touch and works well.
