Oh, you're playing the popular "it's all just because Sony is going to be bankrupt and doomed etc" card, how surprising. The reason he's giving some explanation is because the media and people like you have been in total panic mode over all these things in the last couple weeks, has that ever occured to you? Like I've said not every bad news about Sony can immediately be attributed to them doing not so peachy financially. Or do you seriously believe that Stig left because he thought "damn I just burned through 4 years and tons of resources and have nothing to show for it, I better get the fuck out of SSM, since this Sony ship is going down"?

So I'd much rather believe the reasons given in the OP, then your "oh they're bailing because Sony will soon be bankrupt"-explanation, cause if that was the case they would've been out of there years ago, since we've been hearing this since 2007 or something, and not now when the PS4 is doing as phenomenal as it is.

They didnt leave years ago, because they hadnt made a name for themselves yet, but i guess they started at the top, according to you. Damage control, keep it up. Its helping!

Yeah, Stig has made a great name for himself after crashing this game. Amy Hennig was totally unknown before this year and Col Rodgers has obviously become a huge name in the game industry since he joined Sony. The only one that we could say made a name for himself is Justin Richmond but he already did that in 2011 when Uncharted 3 shipped, if not even earlier.

All im seeing from you is, damage control. Im done wasting time on this coversation. Have a good day.

The new people they higher better be just as good, or better.

Just as good in wasting money and resources or even better? Man you must hate Sony.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

All I'm seeing from you is a guy that is angry that I don't agree with his brilliant "Sony will soon be dead, that's why people are leaving"-explanation.

You don't want to discuss this anymore fine but next time you can just admit that you're out of arguments to support your point.

What a hypocritical statement. You've been attacking DerNebel just because he doesn't agree with your viewpoint and you repeatedly use the "damage control" rhetoric without elaborating whatsoever. Pete Dodd, regardless of what you say about his credibility as an insider, gave a reasonable explanation as to why these events are happening to Sony's internal studios. Instead of trying to give a good countertheory, you immediately resort to the all-too-familiar "damage control" rhetoric. Apparently, something about what Pete Dodd and DerNebel said must have struck such a dissonant chord to you or otherwise, we wouldn't have seen this kind of reaction.

Fanboy drivel nothing more. Ironicly this started as some fanboy trite post on neogaf and was quickly dismissed only to resurface as insider facts. Pure bullshit to the highest degree

Looks like Sony saw all the complaints about Nintendo relying too much on their own franchises, and decided that the best way to keep their western fans happy was to pull the plug on anything that might get a sequel.

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

This whole thread is bizarre. I suppose during this week Sony's layoffs were linked to the company's overall problems? And now this insider is providing an explanation for how those layoffs have nothing to do with Sony's overall situation? Is that it?

The layoffs are a part of the company's overall problems.  The problem is that they don't actually direct and control their studios so much as trust them to make the right decisions. In the case of the cancelled SSM project somewhere from 75-100 million dollars wasted over 4 years in trust.  Happening right before the new quarter I doubt it's a coincidence.  Though I'm happy Sony is finally trying to reign them in and make them fiscally responsible.  I dont see how that can be a bad thing for a business even if I'm sad for those whom lost their jobs. Restructuring is also happening with their EU studios as well.  I hear one project cancelled in each region so I really don't think it will affect them much long term.

There is also a stink about two people whom were pretty high up in ND leaving.  One of them has publicly stated that he chose to leave ND to go to Riot and I'm not sure where Amy went to.  I don't see any reason why this would be associated with the restructuring outside of forum fanboys liking to speculate doom so much as talented people in search of higher paychecks, more creative freedome, or simply they are tired of working on Nothing but Uncharted. I'm certainly tired of playing the games.

The stuff posted by pete is incorrect and the other stuff is just speculation. Check out this thread from neogaf

Indeed. Specifically this post is the most damning.

Pete Dodd (FamousMortimer) has been permabanned from NeoGAF for the false and damaging statements he made.

Because we're now posting about untrue rumors, this thread serves no purpose. So I'll be locking it.

Any discussion about the actual incident can be continued here though.
