RolStoppable said: This whole thread is bizarre. I suppose during this week Sony's layoffs were linked to the company's overall problems? And now this insider is providing an explanation for how those layoffs have nothing to do with Sony's overall situation? Is that it? |
The layoffs are a part of the company's overall problems. The problem is that they don't actually direct and control their studios so much as trust them to make the right decisions. In the case of the cancelled SSM project somewhere from 75-100 million dollars wasted over 4 years in trust. Happening right before the new quarter I doubt it's a coincidence. Though I'm happy Sony is finally trying to reign them in and make them fiscally responsible. I dont see how that can be a bad thing for a business even if I'm sad for those whom lost their jobs. Restructuring is also happening with their EU studios as well. I hear one project cancelled in each region so I really don't think it will affect them much long term.
There is also a stink about two people whom were pretty high up in ND leaving. One of them has publicly stated that he chose to leave ND to go to Riot and I'm not sure where Amy went to. I don't see any reason why this would be associated with the restructuring outside of forum fanboys liking to speculate doom so much as talented people in search of higher paychecks, more creative freedome, or simply they are tired of working on Nothing but Uncharted. I'm certainly tired of playing the games.
