Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Does X1 need Europe or Japan this gen?

More than likely they'll be fine but they have lost some of their market share and alienated some of their fan base.

Around the Network

Japan (you can add Asia overall to that) would be "NO". Waste of time and waste of money.

Europe is of course a yes.

Well if they can win NA then I will feel superior to 90% of PS fans on this site, since they all happen to live in NA.

No victory overseas helps them losing where they live after all.

so the way you value yourself and set your self esteam is based on how much your prefered console sells in  the USA?

U act like fanboyism culture is foreign to you. I am sure that in 2006-2007, Sony fans dispelasure in the console space tranlated into depressing lifestyles in their day-to-day ;). Tis our way.

Offcourse I am referring to the gaming culture side of my life that is turned off like a switch the moment I leave my computer lol

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

If the PS4 continues its lead in NA, and widens the margin even further, yes, they will need any help they can get.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

and besides the "supposed" extra power the PS4 has over the X1, it will not be enough to be over taken.

Long live Microsoft!

"SUPOSED" extra power?????

Lets talk about some "FACTS":

Here is a comparison between the two GPU's side by side

XBone GPU:
1.18 TF GPU (12 CUs) for games
768 Shaders
48 Texture units
16 ROPS
2 ACE/ 16 queues

PS4 GPU:
1.84TF GPU (18 CUs) for games + 56%
1152 Shaders +50%
72 Texture units +50%
32 ROPS + 100%
8 ACE/64 queues +300%

As you can see quite clearly, the PS4's GPU had 50% more power than the XBone GPU.
This explains why the majority of the multiplatform games are running at 720p at XBone and 1080p at PS4 (50% more resolution).

PS4 have a stronger GPU but it also has a faster CPU to match:
PS4 CPU actually runs at 2Ghz and produce 14 MB/s of textures, versus 12 MB/s textures for the XBone 1.6 CPU (overclocked to 1,75Ghz).

The PS4's CPU is 15% faster than the XBone CPU (you can comprove this in the benchmark tests made):
.
Even more than this, the PS4 has a lot faster system and graphics memory, sporting 8GB of GDDR5 (V)RAM where-as the Xbox One uses older 8GB of DDR3 RAM. Both systems reserve a large portion of RAM to OS applications, but the other telling part is how those OS applications are accessed and handled by each system.

The XBone's hard drive is preoccupied with 136.4GB of system reserved space. The overhead of the three operating systems is mammoth, leaving the system – and by proxy, users – only 362GB of usable hard drive space. This is compared to the PS4, which allows users access to more hard drive, leaving 408GB space free for user software.

So just to recount: The XBone has a slower CPU, a less powerful GPU, less storage space out of the box, no external hard drive support, lacks network bandwidth configuration controls and comes with AA batteries instead of a play-and-charge kit, yet costs more than PS4.

The extra power is a reality not a supposition!

(Definitely, best games of last Gen)
