Nintendo knows what will put them ahead of the competition. Three words: Pokemon World Online.

The Wii U needs more horror games. Getting Fatal Frame back around and kicking, or a new Silent Hill game (the one on the Wii was great, IMO). Think of it, ghost presence in the room, all of a sudden your gamepad screen glitches out and a face appears in the blink of an eye with some loud scream. That'd make me jump =D

I thought u said semi-realistic?

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I don't think that's realistic at all, honestly.

Mario Kart is probably going to use the gamepad for a 5th player. Why knock out the gamepad for a hugely popular title that will support it in a big way?

8th gen predictions. (made early 2014)
PS4: 60-65m
WiiU: 30-35m
X1: 30-35m
3DS: 80-85m
PSV: 15-20m

Nope, the optimal way of playing Mario Kart will be with the gamepad. How else are you gonna see those Blue Shells coming!

I don't think too many people would buy such a console. The Wii U has a problem with it's very design. It's a classic console competing directly against not obly PS4 and X1 but also PS3 and 360. For the Next-Gen (or Current-Gen, whatever you prefer) they lack powet and the price isn't low enough to make up for that. For PS3 and 360 they lavk games as those consoles have a massive library and many games are available dirt cheap. Removing the Gamepad would basically kill off the last selling point of the console.

It's a little sad but I fear there is no "saving" Wii U in terms of getting it to numbers of the competition. The best thing Nintendo can do now is to just squeeze as much money out of the console as they can. And you don't do that with a price cut. Finish off the games that are still in the pipeline, but don't invest too much in anything beyond that. Instead, bring a new console in 2016 with something unique. X86 and more powah might help, but I doubt 3rd parties will flock to Ninty, mo matter what they do. So I say bring something people can get only at Nintendo. Something epic I can't think of right now paired with great games to exploit such a device or service or... Whatever the heck it will be
be.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Based on the investor's meeting, I'd say this is a very UNrealistic bomb. It might work, but it's directly against what they talked about in the meeting. They want to emphasize the gamepad, so future titles are going to make great use of it. A better bomb would be keep the gamepad, bundle Super Smash Bros. and a pro controller. That's what everyone will want to play Smash Bros. with. Then, at the same time, run a deal where if you buy either Mario Kart or Smash Bros. and have it registered with Club Nintendo, you get $30 off the other game. Buy one, get one half off. Of course, if you got one of the games in a bundle, it still counts. This would open the deal to people who already have a Wii U, and would allow them to keep the gamepad included while still offering a lot of value to consumers. This would have a similar bomb effect, without too much cost, and without hurting their vision of supporting the gamepad.

The price is the key for Nintendo, to have the cheapest available console. But since both the PS3 and X360 are still pretty popular(and cheaper) I think this is where the Wii U are losing some(or most?) of its market, to be honest.

Even though I love my Wii U and Nintendo's games, the PS3(if you didn't have it already) is a much better buy than the Wii U. And as Sony will continue to support the PS3 for a couple of more years so there will be more great games for it to come.

And we can even see that the PS3 is still outselling the Wii U. It's not good for Nintendo at all.

If Nintendo still could make money from Wii U with games sales and stuff, if they reduced the price with -€100, so the Wii U would be less expensive than the PS3, and perhaps bundle it with one or two great games, I honestly think they should. It would make it sell more for sure. But I don't think they would break even. :(

Honestly I think at some point this is just putting lip stick on a pig ... the Wii U is going to sell its 15-20 million units and not much more, regardless of what Nintendo does, barring a miracle new franchise coming out of nowhere.

The GameCube was $99.99 for almost half its life span and they still only got up to 22 million.
